My Current Descript Workflow for Creating Podcast Clips With Highlights
This has been working pretty well for me...and helping me make 30-65 clips from each 1 hour podcast I do (currently I don't have a team). I go through and edit each podcast episode in Descript - as I'm editing, I pay attention to segments I think would make good short form clips, and I highlight them as I go. It's helpful to use alternating colors for each highlight, so the next step is easier. Then when finished editing, I use the "copy all highlights" feature and paste them into a new composition. That composition is then just made up of all my highlights (aka my clips). - I call it "All Clips" From there - I open up the "all clips" composition -- switch over to vertical Aspect ratio, highlight each clip and create a new composition with them. For now, I create unique compositions for each clip. I'm thinking of testing using "Markers" in the All Clips composition so I can name them all in one place and then just export them all in one movement by exporting "by markers". But I haven't tested that yet.

My Current Descript Workflow for Creating Podcast Clips With Highlights

@Stephen G. Pope no, that would be amazing. For now I’m choosing the highlights. I’ve tried a couple automatic services and didn’t love them (yet) This part is manual but after that point it’s fairly leveraged.

@Stephen G. Pope in descript those highlights are also tied to that segment of the video. So by copying a colored highlight you’re also copying that part of the video, and can easily paste it into another descript composition

Basic Zapier Issues
Hi, I'm really excited to be here, but feeling like a total newb at the moment...I upgraded my zapier last night and set up some automations (Following the steps in Stephen's Youtube videos - the google drive to airtable to youtube one, and then just the simple google drive to youtube one...they test fine but when I turn them on they haven't triggered automatically once. Is there something simple I'm missing? Thanks!

@Stephen G. Pope Good to know. I worked through my issues yesterday and got a functional version. You're right, the workflow has to be lined up right to let the software do its job. Thanks again!
Hands down, Fastest way to add B-Roll (stock footage)
... and make shorts out of longer-form videos. Chat GPT Code I used: # Prompt for Assistant ## Objective: Cut down the provided video transcript into a single, short Instagram reel under 60 seconds. ## Rules: 1. Do NOT add any new text. 2. Do NOT alter any existing words (e.g., no pluralizing, no changing spelling). 3. Only cut down what exists in the original transcript. ## Instructions: - Consolidate the idea or ideas in the transcript for an Instagram reel aimed for under 60 seconds. - Strictly adhere to the rules. No exceptions.

Wow, never thought of B Roll from Descript - my current workflow is descript to premiere, that's perfect!

How I got 6.5x faster at editing
You can literally hack your video editing speed. It used to take me 3 hours to edit a high quality video, now it takes me 25 minutes. Here's 5 plugins I use to do so: (I cut and do sound design in Premiere and I edit in After Effects. All of these are After Effects plugins.) - Animation Composer (Paid): Animate layers and text without keyframes - AE Juice (Paid): Presets and stock video within after effects - KEase (Free): Automatically ease your keyframes and copy and paste easing. You can even save your custom eases in here. I use this for zooms. - AtomX (Paid): Presets, I mainly use this for transitions. (basically AE Juice, but higher quality.) - Motion Tools Pro (Free): Sequence your keyframes and quickly adjust your anchor point. Lots more but that's what I use it for. Here's an example of a video I edited using these plugins: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZxUZTtPSYK4&ab_channel=zeromrtn Happy editing everyone 🙂
