Review - Tom Ford Signature Collection Beau de Jour
Wearing the EDP from the Signature Collection to work again today. Originally launched in 2019 as a Private Blend and rereleased in 2020. It’s a modern take on the classic aromatic fougere. It opens with lavender that's fresh, slightly powdery, and herbal, evoking a vintage barbershop vibe but polished. The heart brings in green, aromatic notes with an earthy, herbal crispness and subtle floral and minty facets. The base settles into warm patchouli and amber giving it a musky, slightly sweet depth that feels confident and grounded without being heavy. Overall, it's a well groomed gentleman fragrance that’s masculine, classy, timeless, and sophisticated. It’s versatile for day or night, office to evening. Performance is solid with longevity around 8 hours and moderate projection (strong opening, then settles closer). It's not overly sweet or trendy, it's refined and mature. If you're into lavender driven scents with herbal greenness and a warm base, it's a winner. Highly recommended for anyone wanting a confident, modern barbershop fragrance that's still classic.

A couple of weekends ago, I was up in Dallas and stopped in at The Scent Room. I was specifically there wanting to pick up Stora Skuggan Monkeyflower, but in the store was a little disappointed with the spray on skin (that opinion changed later in the evening when that fragrance truly blossomed and came alive). I ended up falling for The Hellenist a l'ombre d'Artemis, and later that evening got a ton of compliments on it while having dinner with my female clients. Initially, I was debating whether or not to spend the budget on one or the other, when it was pointed out to me that I could get the smaller size of The Hellenist online for 1/4 the price and order samples of the others that I liked. It's advice I've handed out dozens of times to others, so it was nice to have it fed back to me. I opted to get the 15mL bottle of Hellenist - it was $55 (the 100mL is $218), and I was able to use a coupon for 10% off. After shipping and tax, it was just under $65. I got Mistpouffer and Monkeyflower (not pictured) as 2mL samples and added in Andrea Maack Neon Veil, which I've really wanted to sample, and they threw in SYD Botanica Suspended Water Lily, which I've never tried. I'll have a bigger review later on, but this is a really bright, airy spring fragrance that opens with blackcurrant and fig and dries down with rose and oakmoss. It opens a bit more feminine, but dries down more masculine, making it a great unisex scent. I'm looking forward to giving this more wear, and happy to have a smaller bottle that I can afford.
