Match #69
Match #69—and we've reached the final eight fragrances in the tournament, four in each bracket. At this point, every decision could easily go the other way on another day. And today's choice is agonizing: Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male Elixir versus Bleu de Chanel EDP. Le Male Elixir is an absolute powerhouse. Deep vanilla and honey sit over tobacco and tonka bean, creating something rich, sweet, warm, and incredibly addictive. The performance is tremendous, and the drydown is where everything comes together beautifully. For cool weather or date night, it's difficult to ask for much more. Bleu de Chanel EDP takes a completely different approach. Citrus, ginger, and incense settle over amber and cedar to create what I still consider the gold standard for blue fragrances. It doesn't have the sheer projection of Le Male Elixir, but what it gives up in volume, it makes up for with sophistication, versatility, and class. Can you tell I'm waffling? Honestly, if I did this matchup again next week, I could choose differently. They're that close. But I'm 66 years old, and today I'm going to choose the fragrance that feels more naturally suited to me. I'm taking versatility, maturity, and understated elegance over sweetness, projection, and youthful exuberance. Bleu de Chanel EDP advances. Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male Elixir is eliminated from the tournament. Ouch. We're down to seven.

Has anyone smelled the New PDM releases?
Althair Exclusif and Dorval are the newest PDM releases. Has anyone been able to smell either of them yet. I myself am more curious about the Dorval release.
