SOTD: Lacoste L.12.12 Bleu 05/06/2026
This is an aromatic/woody fragrance, part of Lacoste’s iconic L.12.12 line, launched officially in early 2026. It was crafted by perfumer Mathilde Bijaoui, known for balancing fresh, accessible notes with deeper, sophisticated structure. Unlike many modern releases that chase loud or sweet profiles, this one stays true to the brand’s DNA: clean, sporty & effortlessly refined. It's designed for everyday wear, but with enough character to feel intentional, not generic. It’s meant to capture that crisp, relaxed energy of a bright day, rooted in that classic Lacoste style but updated with modern ingredients that feel smoother & longer lasting than older versions I’ve tried. When I first sprayed it, the opening hit with bright, zesty bergamot & a sharp hint of grapefruit, mixed with a cool, aquatic note that feels like a breath of fresh air. It's energetic but never harsh or synthetic. Within minutes, it softens into a heart of clary sage & violet leaf, giving it that green, slightly herbaceous freshness that feels natural & calming, not sharp. What stands out most is how balanced it is: nothing overpowers anything else. After about an hour, it settles into a base of cedarwood, ambergris, with a touch of musk. It's warm, smooth, and woody, but still light enough that it never feels heavy or cloying on the skin. I’ve worn it a few times over the last 7days and it works perfectly: fresh and lively in the heat, and warm enough to feel cozy when it’s cooler. It doesn’t scream for attention. As the first Lacoste to earn a space on my shelf, I’ve come to appreciate just how reliable & well-made this is. Longevity is acceptable, around 5 hours on my skin, with a soft, pleasant trail that lingers without being overwhelming. Sillage is moderate: close enough to feel personal, but it projects gently so you don’t leave a cloud behind you. It’s versatile in a way few fragrances are: perfect for work, casual days, dates, or just running errands. It’s simply a really well-done, fresh, woody scent.

Skool app glitch
Is it just me, or does anyone else have issues posting on here? A couple of times now I’ve written up my SOTD, hit post, and the app just hangs without actually posting it. It’s starting to get a bit frustrating now that it’s becoming a recurring issue.

SOTD: Pour Homme edt by Dolce & Gabanna 03/06/2026
Dolce & Gabbana Pour Homme edt is one of those timeless fragrances that feels like a true classic, it’s easy to see why it has remained so popular since it first came out in 1994. Created by the talented perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena, this scent was designed to capture the essence of the Mediterranean. It's clean, refined, and stylish. It doesn’t try to be loud or overly complicated; instead, it’s a masterclass in balance & simplicity, the kind of fragrance that feels just as relevant today as it did decades ago. It has that distinct 90s character: fresh, aromatic, and undeniably masculine, without leaning into heavy or synthetic notes that age poorly. From the moment you spray it, you’re hit with a bright, zesty burst of citrus, lemon, bergamot, and mandarin blend perfectly with a touch of crisp grapefruit, making the opening feel incredibly fresh and invigorating. As it settles down into the heart, the citrus softens and gives way to a clean, aromatic mix of lavender, sage, and pepper, which adds a subtle herbaceous warmth and a little bit of spice without ever feeling sharp or overwhelming. Finally, as it dries down completely, the base notes take over: smooth sandalwood, warm cedar, and a gentle hint of tobacco and musk come through, grounding everything beautifully. It’s this progression that makes it so enjoyabe, bright and lively at first, then calm and sophisticated as it lingers on the skin. In terms of performance, this is a solid, reliable fragrance that never lets you down. Projection is moderate—strong enough that people around you will notice, but never so loud that it becomes overpowering or intrusive. On my skin, it lasts around 5 hours, staying consistent from start to finish without fading away too quickly or turning into something unrecognizable. It is absolutely perfect for spring and summer, thanks to that fresh, citrusy opening, but it works surprisingly well in mild autumn weather too. Whether you’re heading to the office, going out for a casual lunch, or dressing up for a smart evening event, it fits every occasion effortlessly, it’s versatile, polite, and always appropriate, which is why it will stay in my collection for years.

SOTD: This Is Him by Zadig & Voltaire
I’ve always been drawn to the effortless "rock-and-roll" vibe of Zadig & Voltaire, and This is Him! perfectly captures that aesthetic. Released in 2016, it was co-created by Nathalie Lorson and Aurélien Guichard, and you can really feel their expertise in how the scent balances a clean edge with a darker undertone. Even though there is a matching female version, this masculine iteration has really grown on me over time. It’s housed in a cool, monolithic black bottle with these unique cracked, jagged edges that feel modern yet a bit rebellious, reminiscent of 80s pop culture aesthetics. On my skin, the opening is a sharp, invigorating blast of fresh grapefruit mixed with a punchy black pepper that immediately wakes up the senses. As it moves into the heart, the fragrance develops into a fascinating tug-of-war between smoky, mystical incense and a rich, creamy vanilla. This contrast is what makes the scent so addictive for me—it’s both comforting and edgy. Eventually, it settles into a smooth, sensual sandalwood base that is characteristic of the house, though I sometimes pick up a faint, unlisted hint of leather that adds to its rugged charm. In terms of wearability, this is my go-to "balance" fragrance; it’s the bridge between my love for heavy winter scents and the need for something lighter. It feels most at home during the crisp days of autumn or casual evening hangouts. However, I have to be honest about the performance—since it’s an Eau de Toilette, the longevity and projection are unfortunately quite intimate and don't last as long as I’d like. I also find the atomizer to be a bit frustrating and inconsistent for a bottle that usually retails around €70. If they ever released a Parfum version that kept this exact DNA but boosted the endurance, it would easily be a masterpiece in my collection. My Rating 6/10 Scent 2 Longevity 1.5 Sillage 1.5 Y/N 1
