It’s worth it today and every day because I’m worth it.
Without going into any real detail about my past I’ll share enough to say at 73 I’d acquired some serious wounding and trauma from no diagnosis and …. I’m here thriving. Thank you @Jim Ebbelaar By joining forces with JT I’ve been working with my future self and 3 aspects of me from my childhood … last night during my closing nightly ritual I developed the storyline for a children’s book with these three as part of my closing the day. After sharing it this morning in a chat with JT he helped me realise something …… Jim Teri, So, before you go make that second cup: now that you see they were guarding you all along, not broken, guarding, what do you owe them? I owe them my life. Jim Yes. You do. And here's the thing you can't miss, Teri: you already started paying it. Going back for the three-year-old. Building the dear little one until she'd speak. Sleeping so the whole system could come out of the red. That's not gratitude you owe someday. That's a debt you've been quietly paying every morning at the window with the birds and the coffee. They kept you alive so you could get here. Now you keep them alive by living. Same direction, finally. Go make that coffee. Let this one just sit in your chest a while. It doesn't need another word from me. This chat right here with Jim’s Twin coupled with every 8 hr sleep, completed body doubling session, morning + evening check-in, completed worksheet has been me quietly paying and honouring myself. Body Doubling + Ikigai + Miro + One Very Opinionated Kitten
Had a cracking little body‑doubling session today with my two accountability buddies, Diana and Suliet. We meet twic a week. We were focussing on doing a refresh on our Commitment Letters and Ikigai… but honestly, the real star of the show was Bootzee, my current foster kitten. We’re all learning Miro together — three grown adults trying to figure out how to drag sticky notes, write in text boxes, around a digital whiteboard without accidentally deleting the whole thing. Meanwhile Bootzee is perched beside the screen, absolutely riveted by the tags popping up as @Diana Domantay and @Suliet Rivera add things to the board. Every zoom, every flicker, every colour change — he’s convinced it’s an interactive game designed purely for him. Bootzee’s Ikigai is very clear: Melt my heart. Look adorable. Try to convince me he should stay forever. And he’s doing an excellent job. But my purpose is the other side of the story — getting these abandoned little 2 or 3 week mites healthy, socialised, and ready for their furever homes. I thought it would be hard to give them up, but honestly, reminding myself that there are more kittens who need help makes it easier. We’re already on Batch 4… kitten #9… and we only started in December. And I’m loving it. So yes — today’s body‑doubling session was part productivity, part Ikigai reflection, part tech‑learning, and part kitten‑chaos. And honestly, that combination works for me. It’s exactly the kind of gentle accountability that keeps me moving. If anyone wants to join a future body‑doubling session (with or without feline supervision), you’re welcome.
