Last night, I enjoyed, without question, the finest 90 minutes I’ve ever spent with a cigar and a fragrance. Also, it wasn’t really with Winston, but I’ll explain. First, the fragrance: Scents of Wood – Leather in Bourbon. Some fragrances don’t simply accompany a moment—they define it. Scents of Wood – Leather in Bourbon did exactly that. From the first wear, it wrapped the evening in a rich, confident warmth: supple leather, gentle spice, boozy depth, earthy woods, and a quiet sweetness that felt both grounding and indulgent. Perfectly suited for a cold winter night, it carried an aura that was relaxed, magnetic, and deeply self-assured. I was by myself and by the end of my 99 minutes, I was surrounded by eight people bestowing endearing compliments. Sadly, now discontinued, I may be holding one of the last remaining bottles—a fragrance that deserves its legacy and, hopefully, a return. That aromatic presence found its perfect counterpart in Davidoff’s The Late Hour – The Churchill (7” x 48). From the very first puff, the cigar mirrored and amplified the fragrance’s character, unfolding with notes of malt, spice, black pepper, leather, and black coffee. Together, scent and smoke moved in lockstep, elevating one another without competition—an experience that lasted a flawless 90 minutes. My gratitude to Davidoff Cigars for offering a solemn, quiet, and spiritual moment that felt like time spent with Winston Churchill himself, and to Scents of Wood for crafting a fragrance capable of carrying such weight and elegance. I’m sad at the production’s end, so I smile not because it’s over, but because I get to enjoy it until the last spray. This pairing created a moment I won’t forget—one defined by intention, harmony, and respect for craftsmanship of both fragrance and cigar.
