SOTD: Xerjoff Torino 21
Xerjoff Torino21 might be one of the freshest “luxury summer” fragrances I’ve sampled in a long time. Released in 2021 and created by Chris Maurice, it opens with mint, lemon, basil, and thyme before moving into lavender, rosemary, jasmine, and black currant, all sitting on a soft musky base. My first impression is that this smells incredibly clean and energetic without going full shower-gel or sporty aquatic. The mint is what I noticed early on — bright, cooling, and almost sparkling — but the herbs and soft musk keep it feeling refined instead of casual gym scent territory. It honestly smells like expensive warm-weather confidence. This feels tailor-made for spring and summer days, especially outdoors, travel, brunches, casual upscale settings, or just anytime you want something uplifting and polished. Performance is also much stronger than I expected for such a fresh fragrance. Really impressive first wear.

SOTD: Kenneth Cole Black
Kenneth Cole Black is one of those underrated early-2000s designer fragrances that still holds up surprisingly well. Released in 2003 and created by Harry Fremont and Sabine De Tscharner, it opens with mandarin orange, ginger, basil, and mint before settling into incense, nutmeg, cedar, suede, and musk. What I’ve always liked about it is the slightly dark, spicy vibe underneath the fresh opening. It has that clean “night out” designer style from its era, but the incense and suede give it more character than a lot of the loud aquatic fragrances. Smooth, masculine, and easy to wear without smelling generic. Best suited for evenings, cooler weather, casual dinners, or just relaxed everyday wear. Performance isn’t nuclear by modern standards, but for the price it’s still a really solid grab if you enjoy slightly spicy woody fragrances with a subtle smoky edge.

@Craig Richards I don't know enough about the chemistry, but it's possible it's "gone bad" after that long. Or it's possible your nose has changed in that time and scents hit you differently now. Not sure. For me, KC Black is a citrus jolt on the top, lots of orange, lemon, grapefruit.
SOTD Montblanc Legend Blue
Montblanc Legend Blue (launched in 2024) is a clean, reliable, and crisp addition to the highly successful Legend lineup. It steers away from the heavy, sweet bubblegum trends of recent years, opting instead for a refined, green-leaning "shower gel" aesthetic. The Scent Profile & Notes The fragrance opens with an immediate blast of crisp, cooling mint before transitioning into a smooth, slightly creamy woody structure, all anchored by a heavy dose of modern synthetic fixatives. Top Notes: Spearmint, Lavender, Bergamot Middle Notes: Cedarwood, Sandalwood Base Notes: Ambroxan and Oakmoss Concentration: Eau de Parfum (EDP). Despite the higher oil concentration, it is formulated to emphasize clean, airy freshness rather than heavy density. Longevity: Moderate (5 to 6 hours). It provides a solid performance for the first few hours on skin, though it stays a bit longer if sprayed directly onto clothing. Sillage & Projection: Moderate. It starts with a punchy, clean bubble of protection for the first hour (roughly an arm's length) before settling down into a polite, intimate scent trail that won't overwhelm an office or a gym. What It Clones / Mimics Montblanc Legend Blue is not a direct clone of a single fragrance; rather, it sits at a crossroads of a few distinct DNAs: The "Fierce" Core: It retains a dialed-back version of the original Montblanc Legend and Abercrombie & Fitch Fierce structure (the lavender and oakmoss). The Blue Twist: It infuses that classic base with a refreshing, minty shower-gel vibe. Many enthusiasts note that it wears like a smoother, more affordable alternative to upscale freshies like Parfums de Marly Percival, or a more casual, modern cousin to Chanel Platinum Égoïste. Versatility, Season, & Occasion Versatility: High (Swiss Army Knife status). This is a true "dumb reach" fragrance. It is completely inoffensive, mass-appealing, and remarkably easy to wear. Season: Spring and Summer. The prominent spearmint top note and clean ambroxan base thrive in warm weather and midday heat, though it performs perfectly fine as a year-round climate-controlled indoor scent.

I've become a fan of Montblanc recently, but haven't sampled the Legend line yet. Looking forward to it.

I just sampled this one earlier in the week. Should I consider it a sign?
SOTD:  Eau Sauvage edt by Dior 21/05/2026
Eau Sauvage is one of the most legendary, timeless citrus-aromatic chypre fragrances, I've come across. Created as Dior’s very first fragrance for men way back in 1966 by master perfumer Edmond Roudnitska. Said to have revolutionised men’s perfumery by blending bright freshness with floral elegance, thus breaking conventions of the era . It is refined, clean & effortlessly sophisticated. This is the definition of a classic, the fact that it is still around speaks volumes. Fun story behind the name, When the fragrance was being developed in the mid-1960s, perfumer Edmond Roudnitska presented early versions of the scent to Christian Dior. Dior was said to have loved the fresh, bold character of the perfume, but hadn’t settled on a name yet. One day, while testing it, he exclaimed in French “Quel eau… sauvage !” Which loosely translates to “What a… wild/untamed scent!” The phrase stuck instantly & they decided to keep it. It opens with a sparkling burst of bergamot, lemon, basil, rosemary, and a hint of cumin. It's sharp, zesty & invigorating, instantly fresh and alive. Within an hour, this softens into an elegant heart, with jasmine, rose, coriander & orris root, plus hedione, which brings a luminous, smooth, almost powdery floral softness that feels gentle yet distinctly masculine. As it settles, the base emerges with notes of oakmoss, vetiver, sandalwood, musk & amber. It's earthy, woody, slightly mossy, warm, yet dry, creating a refined, grounded finish that stays close to the skin yet clean. Performance is solid for an EDT: it lasts 6 hours on skin, longer on fabric, with a moderate projection thats noticeable & pleasant within arm’s length for the first 2 hours, before becoming a soft, elegant skin scent. It shines brightest in spring/summer, ideal for daytime wear, office, business meetings, formal events, or smart casual occasions, never loud, always appropriate. This is probably one of the most versatile, refined & respected fragrances ever made. My Rating: 8/10
