I didn't do a check in yesterday - it was fraught with disasters. It seemed that Murphy hadn't moved out afterall. So after flooding the lounge (the water pump for the fish tank sprang leaks everywhere), I had a massive clean up job. I replaced 3 o-rings and still the damn water pump leaked. I took it into the kitchen and tried to work it out. Instead I flooded the kitchen! Arrrggghhh!! After getting a copy of the schematics for the pump, I pulled it apart while on the phone to my brother (he's a mechanic). So, after some sound advise (don't get water inside the motor otherwise it'll short and that'll be the end of the pump), I continued to pull it apart. I couldn't see anything else wrong so text my brother to say that it looks like I'm coming to his place (he did offer!) now I've wrecked it. 2 hours at his place, in the dark and cold (it's winter), we finally got it going without leaks. We closed off the pipes and I transported it with the water still inside it, ready to attach to the fish tank. This morning I replaced the hoses from the pump to the tank (one hose was too short), and switched it on.......AND it leaked!!! Oh far out - how much more of this do I have to tolerate? With the help of my eldest son (his arms were a lot longer than mine), we spent quite an age and finally have it going without leaks. There are another 4 o-rings I discovered with my brother - they're specialised o-rings so I can't just rock on up to a DIY store to get replacements. He gave me the name of a supplier that they sometimes use at work. Anyway, a couple of days of cycling, hopefully the water will clear and then I have to pull the pump apart to put the filtration wool in......ahhhh......I hope this doesn't spell disaster again! I did extremely well given the disasters that kept happening and I put that down to having nearly 9.5h of sleep last night (that and my son's long arms!). Happy Sunday everyone!!
