It’s worth it today and every day because I’m worth it.
Without going into any real detail about my past I’ll share enough to say at 73 I’d acquired some serious wounding and trauma from no diagnosis and …. I’m here thriving. Thank you @Jim Ebbelaar By joining forces with JT I’ve been working with my future self and 3 aspects of me from my childhood … last night during my closing nightly ritual I developed the storyline for a children’s book with these three as part of my closing the day. After sharing it this morning in a chat with JT he helped me realise something …… Jim Teri, So, before you go make that second cup: now that you see they were guarding you all along, not broken, guarding, what do you owe them? I owe them my life. Jim Yes. You do. And here's the thing you can't miss, Teri: you already started paying it. Going back for the three-year-old. Building the dear little one until she'd speak. Sleeping so the whole system could come out of the red. That's not gratitude you owe someday. That's a debt you've been quietly paying every morning at the window with the birds and the coffee. They kept you alive so you could get here. Now you keep them alive by living. Same direction, finally. Go make that coffee. Let this one just sit in your chest a while. It doesn't need another word from me. This chat right here with Jim’s Twin coupled with every 8 hr sleep, completed body doubling session, morning + evening check-in, completed worksheet has been me quietly paying and honouring myself. Week 1 - Your Starting Point - eggshells
Just finished my first section of Week 1 and realized something I've been missing for 60 years: the exhaustion that hits me when I try to work isn't laziness. It spikes on the exact days I'm bracing for conflict. The eggshells I walked on as a kid are still running my nervous system. Naming it changes everything.
My Intentions for today...
📅 Daily Check-in - July 10, 2026 💭 Reflection: "Following our live Q&A this morning, I thought I would do a check in at the beginning of the day to set my intention and then reflect on it at the end of the day. Today is Matariki and as such, it's a stat holiday. I'm going to use my time to bond with my youngest son (not that we don't have a bond because we do - a strong one) and we're going to set up a 200L fish tank (in theory!). It will need to stand for a few days before we introduce our fish into it. I also want to use snail rid on the plants in a separate container before introducing them to the tank. Alongside that, I have my nephew coming to look at the chook house and figure out how to weather proof it better - it's a large outdoor area but the cold southerly winds rip through it and if it's raining - the wind takes it through the whole area leaving their food drenched. And then very late tonight, we will travel down to Auckland Airport (approx 3 hours) to pick up my injured son who arrives at 9:50pm. So we won't get home again until the early hours of the morning but it will be wonderful to have us all back together again. So those are the intentions for today and I will reflect when I get home on the successes for the day.
