Daily Check-in
📅 Daily Check-in - May 25,2026 💭 Reflection: "I've tried to have or to plan my days for quite some time now and I feel that that's been a benefit to me. This today was really quite interesting because now since I've started this course, I found how much the critic is appearing in my conversations or voicing itself. One of the planned things I had was to write an email to the estate lawyer firstly because she hadn't responded now for a week and a half and many things went through my brain but just to clarify a few things. And then I found my critic saying, don't over explain, don't ask too much. And then I said, well if I don't ask, how will I know?
Meet Tubs
This is my focus for this week. This lovely little girl, 10yo, found as a stray ended up in the pound before a rescue centre took her in. She arrived a couple of hours ago, and is in her forever home now. This week, everything else can wait.

ADHD and Addictions
People with ADHD are up to three times more likely to develop addictions than the general population. This vulnerability is largely driven by a brain "reward deficiency" (lower dopamine levels) and poor impulse control. Addictive behaviors provide the instant gratification and dopamine rush the ADHD brain craves. Addictions commonly observed in individuals with ADHD are divided into two main categories: substance-related addictions and behavioral addictions. 1. Substance Use Disorders Many individuals with ADHD initially turn to substances as a form of unintentional "self-medication" to quiet racing thoughts, manage social anxiety, or boost focus. - Nicotine - Alcohol - Cannabis (Marijuana) - Stimulants 2. Behavioral Addictions Because ADHD impacts impulse control and reward processing, non-substance addictions are highly prevalent. - Gaming & Internet Addiction - Gambling. - Shopping - Food Addiction/Binge Eating - Pornography and Sex Addiction For those struggling with co-occurring ADHD and addiction, medical professionals recommend an integrated approach. Treating the underlying ADHD with prescribed medication and behavioral therapies (like CBT or DBT) often significantly reduces the brain's need to seek out addictive substances or behaviors.
Hello
Hi, I’m Cherie and I’m from northern Wisconsin. My husband and I own an auto repair shop and I also work as a data annotator for AI. I am late diagnosed. I managed to function fairly well when I was younger but the ADHD has gotten so much worse with age and it seems like it takes everything I have just to keep up with the basics each day. I want to change that and that’s why I’m here. I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone.
