So I've smelled a bunch of PDM and Initio fragrances and I've realized that both that PDM and Initio, both have some animalic ronea, but none are overpowering and leave a nice, slightly animalic and not super aggressive notes. For those of you who enjoy layering, this was one of those combinations that actually shifted the character of a fragrance in a noticeable way. Bath & Body Works Bourbon hydration body cream under Prada L’Homme. Bourbon lotion is built around white pepper, dark amber, and Kentucky oak. It comes across as warm, slightly spicy, and woody. Prada L’Homme opens with neroli, black pepper, cardamom, and carrot seed, moving into that iris/violet/geranium core, and dries down into amber, cedar, sandalwood, and patchouli. On its own, Prada L’Homme on my skin has always come across very iris/violet-forward, with that powdery, soapy feel. Some liken it to the scent of a freshly pressed dress shirt making it the quintessential office scent. With the Bourbon lotion underneath, what I noticed right away was a retreat in the intensity of the iris and violet. They didn’t disappear, but they stepped back enough to let the base show earlier. As it developed, there was a subtle sweetness and smoothness coming through that resembled that slightly sweetened leather tone I really enjoy in Tom Ford’s Ombré Leather. My sense is the dark amber and oak in the lotion are doing the heavy lifting, adding warmth and depth right from the start and taking the edge off the sharper iris/violet profile, which I don't care for when I wear L'Homme alone. It doesn’t change the DNA of Prada L’Homme, but it redirects it in a way that feels more grounded and, for me, much more desirable, more more wearable for an occasion other than the office. Its a different kind of L'Homme.

Greetings from Wyoming! I've been spending some time in southwest Wyoming for work and decided to try a sample of Irish Leather by Memo Paris. After a day of wearing it, I’d like to share my thoughts. Upon first spray, the fragrance opens with a vibrant green note, coupled with a fresh, spiced citrus scent. This opening is definitely bold and should appeal to those who really enjoy green fragrances. It reminded me of freshly cut grass with a hint of citrus lingering in the background. However, after about ten minutes, the citrus fades, and the mid notes introduce a drier, green-vegetable aroma, along with a strong leather accord. This phase evokes an image of a large leather bag filled with dried green foliage. While the scent has a masculine edge, it might be a bit too overpowering for some. It leans towards a classic masculine vibe that might come off as dated, especially for those who favor more modern scents. Fortunately, as the scent evolves, the initial greenness subsides, allowing for some woody notes to emerge, which help to balance the overt greenness and enhance wearability. In terms of performance, the initial green notes are quite pronounced for the first two hours, creating an impressive aroma bubble around me. After that, it settles closer to the skin but remains noticeable for a solid seven hours, which is great if you appreciate a green scent. Overall, Irish Leather isn't quite for me. The sharpness of the green notes and their dominance over the leather are not to my liking. However, if you are a fan of green aromas, this scent is definitely worth trying. Just keep in mind that for many people, this style of fragrance might feel a bit old school, so it could be best to test it first before committing.
