I know we’re in the heat of the summer, but I almost can’t wait for the cool weather because that’s my favorite time of year when it comes to fragrances! So I couldn’t help myself in picking up a decant of DVN Havana Gold after sniffing it at a Nordstrom‘s. I haven’t had a chance to do a full test wear, but I tried a few sprays to the back of my hand last night. What I’ll say is I had to stop myself from immediately buying a bottle. I need to give this a proper test wear but it is super delicious. I don’t usually love licorice or anise in fragrances, but it fits in perfectly in this one. This is just a delicious mix of syrupy resinous amber, cinnamon, sweet pipe tobacco, and a light licorice rounding it out. If there’s leather in here, it’s like a sweet suede that just adds to the rich backbone – there are absolutely no sharp edges in this (which I usually get from leather). Somehow it didn’t come across as overly sweet which I appreciate. It was projecting off my hand for several hours, and I could still smell it pretty strongly on my skin 8+ hours later - not bad for just two sprays. I’m gonna burn through this decant very fast but I think I might have a winner on my hands here. Anyone else tried it?
