Ganymede by Marc-Antoine Barrois
Well gents, ive been wanting to get my nose on this one for about 6 months and the mailman delivered it today. Its only been 30 mins of wear, at first spray I wasnt super impressed, but it wasnt bad... but its growing on me. I opened the mail, sprayed on too much and went out for brunch. While placing my order, i received 2 compliments from women, with the caveat that it was a bit strong and room filling, but not offensive. Mandarin, suede, saffron and minerals are definitely in there... but it also kinda smells like an electric concrete saw at work, 2 stroke exhaust, and maybe a faint hint of soft rubber (like a bicycle's inner tube) ... pause to eat... It seems to get stronger and more enjoyable with time. I definitely oversprayed, but it doesnt seem to matter with this frag. Its LOUD but its soft about it. Im going to wear this today, and set it aside for a while so I can test drive all my new frags, then ill give it a proper few weeks straight of wear. It also goes very well with labrador. A dog at the restaurant seemed to love it. She had her head on my lap getting pets while I waited for my order. Now I smell like ganymede and labrador... which means despite its power, it doesnt knock out other smells. I have a 10ml decant, so plenty of juice to play with. Its very unique. Very well made. Im not going to rate it, until Ive put it through its paces, but its good... probably even great. 2 compliments in 30 mins of wear is a heck of a start for a new frag.

I haven’t tried Ganymede but I tried the Extrait. Woof it wasn’t for me, I had to scrub it off
SOTE - Acqua
Santa Maria Novella – Acqua A beautifully soft, elegant blend of crisp pear, gentle florals, and a smooth musk base. It hits that classic European definition of unisex—leaning just slightly feminine by North American standards, but effortlessly classy for anyone. It has an undeniable romantic charm. Picture a cozy stay-in date: wrapped up on a vintage velvet couch right by the tall, narrow window of a European apartment, looking out over cobblestone streets on a cool spring afternoon.

I recently discovered this house - I visited the boutique in LA and they kindly gave me a bunch of samples. I remember sniffing Aqua and liking it
Falling out of love…
So as the cooler weather approaches, I’ve started wearing some of my old favorites that I haven’t touched in months and months. I’m also trying to close in on my “final collection” and I’m systematically selling off bottles I just don’t reach for anymore or where I feel I found better alternatives. So we had a particularly cool day last week here in Seattle and I thought it would be a great time to throw on some Oud for Greatness. When I first tested this one, I burned through a decant and loved it enough to buy a bottle. I haven’t worn it that many times since, but when I have, I really loved it – including a solo beast mode night where I sprayed it on pretty heavily and just sat in a deliciously nuclear scent bubble. Well, when I threw it on last week, I really really really didn’t like it. Like, at all. I was so surprised, but I found it sour and barnyardy challenging in a way that I really didn’t appreciate. I’ve recently been battling some decants that I like far more that would fit the rich, spicy woody cool weather category and so I think I need to flip my bottle. I can’t believe it, but I fell out of love with OFG. What I’ve noticed in my journey is I really don’t do well with challenging fragrances - it’s not like I need my collection to be 100% crowdpleasing designers, but I’m finding that where things are challenging I really just don’t want to reach for them. So I’m thinking OFG has gots to go. Has anyone else had this happen?

@George Hernandez mmm good point. The weather here went from sunny 70’s to 50’s rainy cold dark outside for a few days and so maybe I jumped the gun.

@George Hernandez lol I literally did go from Imagination to OFG within days. But I also put on some other cool weather gems and didn’t have a negative reaction so I maintain that I’ve fallen out of love with OFG
New Pickup
After months of waiting on The Parfums (including 3 cancelled orders), I received Sacred Bond Extrait from Fragrance Nevaeh today, I think I will wear it tomorrow.
