Turathi Blue
Dupe of Bvlgari Tygar. I have a sample of Tygar. The sample atomizer was broken so I had to spray it like 20 times just to get a drop out on the top of my hand. The experience I had smelling this is why I got into this hobby. It gave me a high, rush, release of dopamine that I first experienced when I smelled Tom Ford’s Tobacco Vanille. Tygar is juicy grapefruit, citrus/woody blend opening, uplifting scent that just holds you there. You literally can tell when the opening changes into the mid of ginger. Blue DOES NOT do that. Blue is synthetic alcohol on the opening. Blue is good, I’ll tell people to buy it, but it is not Tygar and you will not get the same experience. This hurt me a little because a trusted YouTube reviewer said that buying Blue makes Tygar obsolete. Not true. Not at all. The difference is outstanding in the olfactory experience. Where Blue shines is the dry down and about two hours into the fragrance. This is when it smells like Tygar. Well, a very similar smell at least. A good dupe at this point in the experience. This is musk, patchouli, powdery, fresh and spicy all come together to give it that Tygar feel. Can be worn year round except winter and be worn day or night. Longevity is amazing. 6+ skin and 8+ clothes. Projection is arms length and sillage is STRONG. Bottle presentation like. I kept the box because it’s easier to store. The bottle is odd shaped and easily falls over. Cap has to be aligned perfectly. Don’t like that combo at all. Overall, for the price, this is a good buy and a good gift I believe. But is it Tygar? No. If you want to experience a piece of Tygar then I would say for sure get this. If you want to replace Tygar, this ain’t it.

I know we’re in the heat of the summer, but I almost can’t wait for the cool weather because that’s my favorite time of year when it comes to fragrances! So I couldn’t help myself in picking up a decant of DVN Havana Gold after sniffing it at a Nordstrom‘s. I haven’t had a chance to do a full test wear, but I tried a few sprays to the back of my hand last night. What I’ll say is I had to stop myself from immediately buying a bottle. I need to give this a proper test wear but it is super delicious. Licorice /anise can be hit or miss for me (for example it absolutely works for me in Oud Zarian and Sauvage Elixir, and absolutely doesn’t work for me in Luna Rosa Carbon EDP or Le Male In Blue) but it fits in perfectly in this one. This is just a delicious mix of syrupy resinous amber, cinnamon, sweet pipe tobacco, and a light licorice rounding it out. If there’s leather in here, it’s like a sweet suede that just adds to the rich backbone – there are absolutely no sharp edges in this (which I usually get, and pretty much hate, from leather notes). Somehow it didn’t come across as overly sweet which I appreciate. It was projecting off my hand for several hours, and I could still smell it pretty strongly on my skin 8+ hours later - not bad for just two sprays. I’m gonna burn through this decant very fast but I think I might have a winner on my hands here. It’s not gonna be cheap but given how excited I am by the scent profile. I think it would be worth it for me. Anyone else tried it?
