The Gourmand Wars: Final Four !!!!
Alright guys... the dust has settled, the votes are in and The Gourmand Wars have officially reached the Final Four!! We started with a full field of sweet heavy hitters, dessert kings and edible-smelling troublemakers, and now only four remain. On the vanilla side, Giorgio Armani Stronger With You Intensely pushed through the designer bracket with that rich, sweet, crowd-pleasing swagger, while Parfums de Marly Althair stood tall in niche with its smooth, luxurious vanilla game. Over in chocolate, Guerlain L’Instant EDP kept things classy and refined in the designer lane, while By Kilian Black Phantom came through the niche bracket like a dark, boozy menace with zero interest in playing nice. That means the road to the crown now looks like this: Vanilla Final (3) Giorgio Armani Stronger With You Intensely vs (1) Parfums de Marly Althair Chocolate Final (2) Guerlain L'Instant EDP vs (2) By Kilian Black Phantom At this point, there are no weak links left. Every fragrance still standing has earned its place, and now it comes down to what kind of gourmand experience hits hardest for you. Do you want smooth modern sweetness, upscale vanilla luxury, refined cocoa elegance or dark decadent danger in a bottle? What say you, guys? Which Final Four fragrance has the best chance to win it all? Which matchup feels tighter: vanilla or chocolate? And which fragrance that got eliminated are you still defending like it got done dirty? Love to hear from ya'!

Musicology fragrance house Not the Prince song. Ever heard of them?
Certain song or a specific smell can instantly teleport you back to a memory? That’s the whole vibe of Musicology. They are a niche fragrance house from France, and their "thing" is treats for both the ears and the nose. Instead of just making a "nice smelling perfume," they treat scents like songs—using "notes" and "harmonies" to create an atmosphere. That’s what attracted me to the house. • The Concept: They believe music and perfume are cousins because they both travel through the air, hit you emotionally, and then disappear. • The Vibe: It’s artsy but relatable. Think of it as a playlist for your skin. • The Origin: Born in the heart of the perfume world (France), bringing that classic quality with a modern, rhythmic twist. What attracted me to the house initially was when I heard they had a fragrance inspired by Frank Sinatra’s Fly Me To The Moon. “Fly me to the Oud” The fragrance is built on a contrast between dry woods, smooth leather, and a surprising touch of sweetness. • Top Notes: Australian Sandalwood and Black Pepper. • Heart Notes: Agarwood (Oud), Leather, and Moss. • Base Notes: Brown Sugar and Patchouli. What to expect • Think of a mix of BR 540 and Oud for Greatness • The Opening: It starts with kick of black pepper and a very smooth, creamy sandalwood. It’s dry and spicy but immediately approachable. • The Mid: This is where the "jazz" happens. The oud is clean and woody rather than animalic. It pairs with a soft leather and moss, giving it a vintage, slightly smoky vibe—think well-worn leather chairs and a dim spotlight. • The Dry Down: The standout feature is the Brown Sugar. It doesn’t make the perfume "cupcake sweet," but it rounds out the sharp edges of the oud and moss, leaving a cozy, lingering warmth on the skin. Performance & Versatility • Longevity: Above average. You can expect 7–9 hours of wear. • Sillage: Moderate. It’s not a room-filler, which fits its "intimate jazz club" inspiration. It creates a nice scent bubble without being aggressive.
