Opening Day - Where do YOU want to go? (Re-up'd)
So many new faces here on the first official day of the B.o.S. forum! Welcome everyone and how are you liking it so far? I'm pretty thrilled at the wealth of knowledge amassing here!! There's so many different things I can learn; I can go as little or as far as I want with this hobby! But the REAL question is, how far do YOU want to go? The sky's the limit with fragrances! You can go through the course here and stay with a core group of frags, or you could take it further and learn about niche frags with the seasoned fragheads. Maybe you want to work your way up to getting a chance at the free bottle giveway. Or maybe we're all in the midst of the next John Stephen, Richard Herpin, Quentin Bisch or the likes of Master Perfumers Francis Kurkdjian or Gianni Versace ?! Up to YOU! In the meantime, stay active, I'd love to hear your thoughts, opinions or SOTD! Thanks for joining and I look forward to learning so much from you guys!! Stay fresh, frag fam!!
SOTD / Review: Creed Wild Vetiver
Review on Sample received last week. The initial opening is a floral and slightly spicy scent. At 15 minutes I am picking up some citrus notes from the Bergamot and continue to smell the floral and slightly spiciness of the fragrance. At 30 minutes the fragrance continues to settle downand smoothen out. I am still getting the floral notes, and adding a slightly fruity scent, but the spiciness has settled down significantly. 60 minutes into the wear, the Vetiver has definitely come out as the dominant note and is very well blended with the floral and fruity notes from the Heart of the fragrance. The dry down of this fragrance is a very well blended woody scent with hints of florals and sweetness. Performance: Projection of this fragrance is OK with the fragrance creating a scent bubble of about 2 feet for about 90 minutes. The sillage is OK as well with a scent trail of about 2.5 feet for about 90 minutes. Logevity is actually fair with the fragrance lasting on my skin about 4 to 5 hours, but becoming a skin scent at about 3 hours. This is a very nice scent, but for me it is not FBW due to some redundancies with other fragrance in my collection like Roja's Elysium, FDB Lucius, and PDM Shagya.

I wore the last of my Happyland samples this morning and let it ride all day before sitting down to write this. The opening was bright with citrus and mandarin rind, but not sharp or abrasive. It felt polished. The mandarin rind gave it a slightly textured edge, not juicy sweetness, more like the zest itself. Clean and lifted without being acidic. Within the first 20 minutes, the transition into the floral heart occurs. That shift is seamless. There’s no jarring pivot from citrus to flowers, it just evolves. The jasmine and rose are genuinely beautiful here. The jasmine brings a smooth, slightly creamy quality, while the rose feels fresh and natural, not heavy, not cosmetic. Pink pepper adds a subtle lift that keeps the florals from settling into anything too romantic or too still. By mid-wear, the base begins to quietly assert itself. Amber adds warmth and a soft depth. Musk smooths everything out and keeps the composition cohesive. What stands out after a full day is the balance. Balancing the composition of notes and accords in the fragrances of this house is clearly a priority. Projection was moderate for me, noticeable in the first few hours without being loud. After that, it settled closer to the skin but remained present. Longevity was solid; I was still catching soft amber-musk warmth late in the evening. What I appreciate most is that SE7EN doesn’t try to overwhelm. It’s composed. It feels intentional. There’s no sugar overload, no screechy citrus, no dated floral effect. Just a well-blended floral amber with clarity and warmth and elegance. After a full day, my initial reaction holds: this is beautifully done. Not dramatic. Not flashy. Just confident and harmonious. And sometimes, that’s exactly what makes a fragrance memorable. Well my brothers, that completes my two passes through Happyland. Where to next I wonder?
