SOTD: Acqua di Giò edt by Giorgio Armani 02/05/2026
I've been learning to appreciate this line lately, aquatics were never my vibe, but lately maybe it's the recent heat, but ADG is growing on me. Picked up this whopper 200ML bottle for a bargin. As an edt, I reckoned I could spray away with this one. This classic, is the granddad of the aromatic aquatic genre. Launched in 1996, it was created by the legendary master perfumer Alberto Morillas, said to have been inspired by the the rugged, sun-drenched landscape of the Mediterranean island of Pantelleria. This og composition is a masterclass in balance, opening with a vibrant, zesty splash of Calabrian bergamot, neroli & green tangerine, which give a sense of citrusy energy. As the initial brightness settles, the heart reveals its signature marine accord, masterfully blended with floral notes like jasmine & freesia, alongside spicy hints of rosemary & nutmeg. This salty sea water effect is the fragrance’s core identity. Finally, the scent dries down into a subtle, masculine base of cedarwood, patchouli, white musk, & oakmoss, which grounds the airy aquatic notes with a warm, earthy finish. In terms of performance, Acqua di Giò has moderate projection with a polite sillage, making it a safe choice for close-quarter environments. You can expect 3 to 4hrs on the skin, requiring a midday refresh if you intend for it to carry through an entire evening. With its light, refreshing nature, it is best suited for the spring & summer months, as heat helps the citrus and marine notes project more effectively. It is the ultimate daytime fragrance, perfect for casual weekend outings, office settings, or beach vacations where a clean aura is desired. My Rating 7/10 Scent 2.5 Longevity 2 Sillage 1.5 Y/N 1

SOTD: Parfums de Marly Layton
For all of you PDM connoisseurs, I have a question: Here are the notes listed on Fragrantica for Layton: Top notes are Apple, Lavender, Bergamot and Mandarin Orange; middle notes are Geranium, Violet and Jasmine; base notes are Vanilla, Cardamom, Sandalwood, Pepper, Guaiac Wood, Patchouli, Coumarin and Ambermax™. But right from the start I notice the base notes of vanilla and sandalwood. Is that normal? I was under the impression that top notes are the ones you get from first spray and it's only after the dry-down that we would get the base notes. Has anyone else experienced this, or is my nose just broken today?

SOTD: Michael Malul French Quarter
Picked up the latest Gent Scents collaboration. This one is called French Quarter. This one of the rips Tim da me a lot of Rabanne Invictus Victory Elixir. Sweet, fruity with a boozy vanilla. This one is for the cooler months Fall and winter and early spring. This one has excellent projection off my skin with a perfect scent bubble of 3 feet for the first couple hours. Lasts about 8-9 hours. Work safe/ casual / daytime or best for date night/ presentation is the new Michael Malul bottle style with a cap that snaps into place, with the usual top notch pressurized atomizers. I prefer this one I think imo to Arashi Reef if I had to rank. Both are very high quality scents worth checking out. 8/10
