SOTD: Xerjoff Erba Gold
Heating up here in Denver so I opted for the fruity blast I get from the opening of Erba Gold. I love the citrus burst I get with opening with just a hint of ginger to spice it up. So, Iโ€™m curious, for those who have tried both Erba Pura and Erba Gold, which do you prefer?

Blue Monday
Taking out one of may favorite bottles from one of my favorite houses. This is what @Paul Bartnicki referred to as a "Cute" Bottle ๐Ÿคฃ This is a wonderful cool spring day scent. It's fresh with a nice Patchouli forward fragrance. The dry down sees more woody amber but is a compliment getter. Have a great Monday Everyone!!

Chasing That Fleeting Moment
Lately Iโ€™ve been thinking about how differently fragrance works in real life versus how itโ€™s often discussed online. Some scents make a strong first impression, but donโ€™t go the distance. Itโ€™s rough when scents make that amazing first impression and then die on the vine for lack of longevity. I know Iโ€™ve doused myself before or reapplied to the point of ridiculousness hoping somehow that would extend the wear, only to feel embarrassed later for clearly overdoing it. I've also stained fabrics that way. I remember reading about a perfumer named Jean-Claude Ellena who spoke about preferring transparency, lightness, and clarity in perfumery rather than density or brute force performance. In that philosophy, some of the most beautiful materials are also the most fleeting by nature. Maybe thatโ€™s part of the tension with fragrance; what feels most captivating in the opening isnโ€™t always whatโ€™s built to last through the day. I only know my strongest urges toward scents are often the ones most fleeting and it is frustrating, so I just keep chasing.
