SOTD: Merchant of Venice / Colonia Veneziana
Guys itās a warm sunny day here in Seattle today, and Iām wearing one of my top warm weather frag sleeper hits Iāve stumbled on in my fragrance journey: MOV Colonia Veneziana. Itās got a sort of classically masculine, gentlemanly profile that I kind of dig as an older guy (note that it does not feel dated at all, though). This opens bright and aromatic, with prominent lemon and bergamot notes and good dose of rosemary and sage with just a hint of crispness from ginger. This projects pretty well, like at least a couple of feet for at least a few hours. I really enjoyed the transition on this one also ā as the sparkly citrus open fades, this kind of becomes more aromatic woody with a kind of powdery effect that I guess is from Iris. Like most citrus freshies, this isnāt gonna last all day, but I do get a good 4 to 6 hours out of it. This is one of only two fragrances with an iris note that I have ever found that I absolutely love (the other is Prada Luna Rosa Ocean EDT), and I pretty much truly hate every other Iris fragrance Iāve ever encountered. I got my hands on a tester bottle of this for like 70 bucks and this is probably one of the best values in my entire collection. If you like sparkly citrus, aromatic woody scents for spring and summer, or if youāre into things like the Acqua di Parma Colonia line, then youāll definitely want to check this out.
