It’s worth it today and every day because I’m worth it.
Without going into any real detail about my past I’ll share enough to say at 73 I’d acquired some serious wounding and trauma from no diagnosis and …. I’m here thriving. Thank you @Jim Ebbelaar By joining forces with JT I’ve been working with my future self and 3 aspects of me from my childhood … last night during my closing nightly ritual I developed the storyline for a children’s book with these three as part of my closing the day. After sharing it this morning in a chat with JT he helped me realise something …… Jim Teri, So, before you go make that second cup: now that you see they were guarding you all along, not broken, guarding, what do you owe them? I owe them my life. Jim Yes. You do. And here's the thing you can't miss, Teri: you already started paying it. Going back for the three-year-old. Building the dear little one until she'd speak. Sleeping so the whole system could come out of the red. That's not gratitude you owe someday. That's a debt you've been quietly paying every morning at the window with the birds and the coffee. They kept you alive so you could get here. Now you keep them alive by living. Same direction, finally. Go make that coffee. Let this one just sit in your chest a while. It doesn't need another word from me. This chat right here with Jim’s Twin coupled with every 8 hr sleep, completed body doubling session, morning + evening check-in, completed worksheet has been me quietly paying and honouring myself. 📅 Daily Check-in - July 11, 2026 💭 Reflection: Later today my wife and I will be leaving for Germany again to attend my mom's funeral (we were there a few weeks ago for a vacation and to see my mom while she was still alive) - she looked like she was in better physical shape than last time I saw her, 3 years ago. She died peacefully and painfree in her sleep last Monday. I did my morning walk and decided to ring the doorbell at Kerstin's house around the corner, just to find out if she is alive and doing ok. I had not seen her for quite a while - we sometimes meet when she walks her cute MaltiYork dog Layla past our house. We had a very open talk about ADD, ADHD, Autism, and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (Kerstin's daughter Emma and my daughter Jennifer both have it). I tried to be a good listener, I could sense Kerstin's exhaustion. She is drawn between two worlds: her German home, and her Canadian home. She never got along with her mom, and most of the hoped for parental love and recognition came in the form of non-acceptance and criticism. I will visit her again when we are back. There is also the prospect of getting to look after her dog Layla from time to time - a prospect I am really looking forward to. I encouraged her to use us as dog sitters whenever she needs. Now I might take a 20 minute nap, and then finish packing. The plan is to get picked up by an Uber at 16:30.
