Hello Facilitators👋 I'm really curious about where everyone is from. I'd love to make this a mega post where we can see how diverse the Facilitator Club community is. Who knows, you might find a lot more people in your area than you thought! Once I have lots of answers on this post, I want to make a nice graph!

@Kumar R Appreciate it!
Currently brainstorming ways to add some ‘play’ elements to a workshop of <15 folks. Thinking about having Plus Plus pieces on tables for tactile learners, etc. Looking for things that don’t really need to be connected to the actual learning outcomes, but that enhance the experience a bit.

One idea that combines music and also a great way to get people moving, energized and allow for a stretch is have everyone stand up and walk around the room. While they're walking play some music. When the music stops that's their cue to stop moving. Then they partner with the closest 1-2 people next to them to discuss a certain question you have prepared (great as an icebreaker activity OR the core session that aligns with the topic at hand).

Oops! Didnt mean for that to be posted twice. Deleted the duplicate lol.
Hi everyone! Failure can be a powerful teacher. I'd love to hear times you felt you dropped the ball as a facilitator and what you learned from it. I'm asking cause I facilitated a workshop recently and I didn't intervene with a participant when I should have (I think I lost folks after that). Would love to hear areas others have struggled with and how you've improved/overcame.

@Keith Wasserman haha love that. I imagine you're good at creating environments where youth feel "safe" to do that and it stays fun and not hostile. Wondering if the "five finger contract" ever went sideways?
What would you like to practice the most? *** EDIT: New dates coming soon! *** Hi folks! As a new facilitator looking to improve skills, I'd like to invite you to our practice sessions. A group of us has already completed the first dates of the schedule. Add a comment to the calendar linked below, on the date you want to participate. Calendar of Practice Sessions (archived) https://miro.com/app/board/uXjVMrIG2Tw=/ There's only so many spots available, and dates are limited, so get on this quickly. Include your name, and the role you would like to practice. In addition to facilitators, we also need participants, deciders, techs, coaches, and organizers. Share this opportunity, and let's launch this thing! 🚀

Hi there! As I noticed that there is interest in the community about this topic, I would love to create a thread dedicated to great resources about Facilitative Leadership. I'll go first: Douglas Ferguson: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMF8WrY6ScY&feature=youtu.be. Who's next?:)

Following. Will contribute later!
Hi All. I’m looking for ideas on a main activity with project leadership team. 7 ppl from different depts. Lots of changes happening on the team and there are issues around trust, communication, conflict and alignment. I have 90 minutes. My goal is to help them build trust and discuss how to work together as a leadership team. Looking for something fun/engaging. TIA! Jennie

Hi Jennie, one activity I do in a leadership course regarding trust building: Have participants think of 3 people they don't trust. 1. A friend of family member 2. Someone they know professionally 3. A celebrity or public figure Without writing down their names, have them list the traits of each that causes them not to be trustworthy. Them, have them do this again, except with 3 people they do trust (again, without naming any names). After they're done, have small group discussion to talk about trustworthy vs. Non trustworthy traits. See where there are similarities. What makes someone trustworthy? What makes them untrustworthy? Debrief as a large group. Springboard into trust building theory/concepts after this. Look for traits already brought up by the group.
