Taekwondo Athlete here, just joined
Hi everyone, i am a taekwondo athlete and joined here through us masters cup link. Now, i been seeing his videos pop up on facebook, but have not decided to join until recently. I am a kyorugi (sparring) athlete, but since im Ultra division, there is not much opportunity for kyorugi but more for poomsae (forms) competition. I was never all that into poomsae, but im starting to like it. Been training to compete in it. IM 37 and i cannot do full splits yet. Pretty close for side split but not front. I have a split machine and been using it every day for the past month and a half and it has increased my max range which i can achieve after 20-30min of pain in the split machine, but it did nothing for my starting range which is quite low, i would say 100 degrees for front split starting range... I am ambitious and I want to do vertical sidekicks and full proper front kicks like you see in poomsae videos, even though im 37 i set myself a goal to achieve this before i hit 40, but hopefully sooner. I now realize to improve my starting range and mobility i need to add a whole different set of exercises and im hoping right here is exactly what i was missing. I will continue using split machine but i will also add flex theory drills, and will see the results in the next few months.
