I can help your child to create an interests in storybooks and engage with the stories. My name is Diane Eddy and I am a retired school teacher. I have witnessed this frustration from parents and children alike many times over the years of teaching reading.

Here’s what I do when children have little interests in storybooks. We all learn by using our eyes, our ears and our hands. Today’s activity covers a hand-on approach. The link to this story is in the first comment below. Afterward, meet me back here so we can DRAW the STORY together.

“Let’s draw Peter Rabbit to help us remember him better. Since he was disobedient and went into Mr. McGregor’s garden, let’s draw a picture of Peter Rabbit in the garden.”

Gather your supplies of a pencil, paper, eraser & crayons or colored pencils and meet me back here so we can draw together. I will wait for you.

Now the you have your supplies, let’s begin by putting a dot in the middle of our paper. Start at the top & draw a line thru the dot to the bottom. Do the same across, from one side to the other.

I will give instructions on drawing 3 shapes for the rabbit. Then complete the rabbit by giving step-by-step instructions.

It will be wrapped up by asking the child to like & subscribe to my channel and how I appreciated their participation in DRAW the STORY.
