Excellent idea - many thanks for creating this post. My niche (which I've been having a wee break and about ready to get back into) is retirement. I'm an Aussie retiree living on the Aussie govt. age pension. Also want to support and assist others where retirement is on the horizon.

I personally prefer not to offer Y/T Membership. As I'm a retiree and my audience is mainly over 60, $$$ are tight and I feel that Y/T Membership personally is a waste of money. I prefer to offer stuff for free. Currently I'm promoting mid way through my videos my Weekly dose of J.O.Y. (Just Own Yourself) Newsletter and yes it's free. I'm kind of on the fence when it comes to Y/T ads - personally I hate them. So being monitised via Y/T is not my end goal. I was listening to Think Media Podcast re Brand deals and quite frankly, there are so many aspects to take into consideration to ensure one owns the content, doesn't get stiffed by brands and the like, that I think if I'm ever in the position to be offered a brand deal, I think I will knock it back. If you do want brand deals as an income stream then I really recommend you listen to the podcast so you become fully informed on what to look out for and negotiate. Sean Cannell interviews a Lady Lawyer whose whole business is looking after content creators, so she definitely knows her stuff. Fortunately for me, whilst generating a small side income would be useful, it's not the be all and end all for me. So I can think about at my leisure what I can do to generate a small income stream. I also hate salesy email marketing. These days I simply delete the emails before even opening them. Hence, as you can see, I appear to have personal objections to at least 3 of the common income generating streams for Y/T Channels!!!! Still I will get there. I'm thinking of creating my own product however wasn't around when the talents were given out, so I'll just have to keep perculating in my mind and see what I come up with.

I develop my Thumbnails in Canva.com What I do is check out the thumbnail templates that Canva has and then if I find one I like, I make my own based on the template, simply change the colours a wee bit. At one stage I had the Pro trial version and made a heap of thumbnails which I can massage how I like late on from some of the Pro version thumbnail templates. I like them colourful however do include my image on each thumbnail. Hope this assists.
