First Live on one of my Channels!
Definitely a WIN! Thank goodness for the editor in YT Studio! The first few seconds were UGLY, they are now trimmed out! What surprised me the most, I can talk without a script for nearly an hour without pause! I am thinking I am going to be entering a season of lives. I don't want to let my YouTube channels fall by the wayside, yet my brain is having a hard time slowing down enough to put together mindful scripts! Then to do the editing, it all seems like a full time job when you are not very good at either! Now my dilemma is: Do I schedule them or just randomly post? Do I do it on both channels or just one? I am certainly scattered to day! Just proves you do not have to have everything figured out to do YouTube! I am proof!
@Jaye Brunner You're taking action. For the daily lives, a good thing is that you'll find out what time works out for you. It's experimenting or testing. That's good. If you get questions and don't know the answer, just say you'll research it and create a video answering them. Is no problem. 2 channels keep you occupied...ans I understand wanting to keep both. I like ChatGPT and now have Pro. Cool on Virginia Kerr. I understand about not watching too many creators and videos.....IT BECOMES LOTS OF NOISE..... I'M BACKING OFF Too From WATCHING. Thank you very much for sharing what you're implementing
@Jaye Brunner Watch the entire video on 2x speed. Enjoyed the tour and beautiful artwork. Great studio and display of your artwork & journals. Post your videos....maybe you can do minimal editing on YouTube Studio and publish them. Continue your lives...lived your expressions, being yourself and getting close to the camera and whispering. 😻 Commented on YouTube too.💪😻🙏
Pivoted - It worked and I just made an additional $15K
Hopefully this post topic is okay... if not sorry and feel free to remove. So last year I was focused on a youtube channel and I developed tools to help creators find their niche and develop their channel and it featured AI integration to tailor the tool to the individual. It went NO WHERE. I had made videos about the concept, and created a free software tool with paid add on featuers. There simply did not seem to be an audiance for the tools I was making. Now, this at first sound unrelated but it ties in... At the same time 5 seperate people asked me for help with something I had done in the past while I worked as a pilot. That is to develop a safety managment system for their company. The thing is, to do that you really need to know the individual company well. So then I descided, what if I adapted my tool I made for YouTubers, but instead made a tool that asked aviation companies questions about their operation and helped them develop and run their own safety management system. There is a new deadline that requires a whole bunch of small aviations companies to have something by May 2027. So I became super focused, I set up a formal company (FlyWise SMS), got my first client (who pays monthy for the service) and he was so pleased with what I provided that his company just asked me to help with another related task for an additional $15K. And I am getting other interest as well from other companies now. FlyWise SMS actually resulted in 2 spin off projects (1 is a 2nd company in itself, and the other might become one too). It required a lot of push, I had to teach myself some new programing skills, though I already had software developing experiance. I descided to hyperfocus on the development and stayed put on a 5 acre isolated property in the Philipeans and build the whole first pass of a multi-tenant software as a service tool in 34 days. I am a short sleeper and it is all I did (other than eat and sleep and adopt a stray kitten) for that time period and while I was developing it I made $0. But I stayed focused. There was still more to be done after that window of time but that was the big push.
@Desley Casey Yes you will get there.
@Margot Taylor Congratulations on your App Pivot and making $15k. Plus the 5 people needing your help from your pilot days. That's inspiring. Deadlines create urgency and it's awesome that you adapted, got super focused to finish what those companies need. Love that uoj adopted a stray Kitten. They're so much fun and excellent companions. I agree with you about this community. It's a great place to meet other creators throughout the world and share our learning, challenges, wins and make new friends. All the best and thank you for sharing.
Laptop recommendations
Brand new to this group. Need help please. My desktop is not compatible with windows 11 that they're forcing on me now. So I need to get a laptop. Money is very tight!! Does anyone have recommendations for me? I'm basically looking to create 10 to 30 minute videos, hopefully do minimal editing with cap cut then upload to yt. Again, money is major issue at the moment so if I buy new it'll need to be on the cheaper end, if I buy used... I have no clue what I'd even look for (processor, memory and all that). Thanks in advance!!
Great advice @Desley Casey .
@Chris C You’re welcome.
Starting over at 41 and taking YouTube seriously
I’m 41 and at a pretty interesting crossroads in life. I’ve lived a very unconventional life, including years overseas, and right now I’m living on a small island in Hawaiʻi while trying to figure out what the next chapter looks like. For years I’ve wanted to build something online, but I never really committed to one direction long enough. That’s changing. I’ve started taking YouTube much more seriously and documenting what it looks like to start over in your 40s — figuring out purpose, work, money, health, masculinity, and how to build a life that actually feels like your own. I’m not coming into this as an expert. I’m basically building the next version of my life in public. One thing I’m trying to understand better is how to turn a personal story into content that is genuinely useful to other people, rather than just talking about myself. For those of you who have been growing your channels for a while: What helped you finally figure out what your channel was really “about”? Was it something you decided beforehand, or did your niche become clearer after posting for a while? Looking forward to learning from everyone here
What I’ve learned from Creators I watch is when we give value, Viewers will let us know when they want our help through comments & questions. We must build credibility before charging. Trust ourselves, have a plan & strategy, be transparent, truthful, vulnerable, demonstrate that we care and let go of fear and negative mindsets. Join a community that will support & encourage and where we also contribute, support & encourage. I’ve met many amazing creators through Alexa’s 2 communities and from RobtheMaitimer’s Lives & Community and have created Crestor Friends. I love it.❤️❤️❤️ Be honest with ourselves and share what we’re passionate about so that we stick we it and don’t burnout by having a plan. Publish content & our stories that give value, help provide solutions to someone’s problem. Give everything we know and publish consistently according to the plan we create, test, evaluate, implement and repeat. I’m Starting Over at 71 Yrs young and learning also what to create and what value I can give that my viewers will want. Was monetized in a different niche, quit and recently pivoted my channel with a new niche that can still help some of my past subscribers. After 5.5 yrs on YouTube, I finally decided to treat my Channel as a business not a hobby of tutoring real estate students and never charging. @Mendel Creager, as you & @Narumi Ogawa state, I too want purpose, freedom, income, health, freedom, lifestyle, travel, adventure. I want to help others, always have, and earn a living online….. what I’ve wanted to create since 23 yrs ago when I quit my 15 year engineering career. We are all learning and figuring it out. I’m learning from @Alexa Saarenoja , @RobtheMaitimer, @OldMeLiving, @VirginiaKerr, @KevinKolbe, @NickNimmin and @SeanCannell of @ThinkMediaTV & @SeanTHINKS. I got long winded. All the Best to Both of You. See along the Way!😻
