I’ve been on the hunt for a nice crisp, not too challenging vetiver-forward fragrance and I keep drawing blanks. Anyone have any ideas? I know I have a weird nose and the slightest hint from a long list of notes can wreck a fragrance for me, but I gotta keep trying — right? For what it’s worth I do have and absolutely love a bottle of Dior Homme 2020, which to my nose has some appealing vetiver in it. Honestly, if there was something that was like that one with a twist, then I would jump on it. Here’s what I’ve tried so far and why they didn’t work for me: - TF Grey Vetiver EDP: orris and nutmeg ruin it for me - TF Grey Vetiver Parfum: too metallic and screechy - Lalique Encre Noire line: way too screechy (and Encre Indigo smells like burnt clams to me 🤷‍♂️) - Penhaligon Inimitable William: meh, a bit soft and not exciting - Terre d’Hermes line: I don’t love the flint/ metallics of that line (although… Eau Givree is growing on me and is a definite maybe, but I don’t think it has any vetiver in it) - Vetiver Sensuel: the floral note ruins it for me - Jo Malone Vetiver and Golden Vanilla: has a weird burnt rubber vibe to me - ELDO Fat Electrician: has the same weird burnt rubber vibe - Boss collection elegant Vetiver: I had this but sold it, the pistachio note was weird to me - Then there are probably scores of others that have Vetiver in them and do or don’t work for me, but I wouldn’t consider them Vetiver forward

Just wore Kenzo Pour Homme EDP for a full day and it’s basically modern salty woods with a “fresh-off-the-coast” vibe, but not in the typical blue-shower-gel way. Opening (0–30 min): Right away I get a marine/salty breeze with a slightly green, aromatic edge. It’s not loud citrus. More like cool air + sea spray + clean woods. There’s a smoothness to it that feels more “EDP polished” than sharp. Mid (1–4 hrs): This is where it clicks: salty woods + aromatic herbs with a subtle “skin-like” warmth. It doesn’t go sweet on me. It stays airy, outdoorsy, and kind of calming—like walking near the water when the sun is going down. Drydown (4+ hrs): Mostly woody-musky with that faint marine salt still hanging around. Clean but not laundry-detergent clean. It’s more minimalist, like a soft woody aura. Performance: On me it’s medium projection for the first 1–2 hours, then it becomes a close-to-moderate scent bubble. Longevity is solid—6–8 hours depending on sprays and weather. It’s not a “beast mode” room filler, but it lasts. When/where it works: - Warm weather, office, errands, casual nights - Great “easy reach” if you want something fresh that isn’t generic blue - Feels like a clean, slightly artistic aquatic-woody Who should skip it: If you want sweet, loud, or ultra-sharp citrus freshness, this might feel too calm and woody. Also if you hate anything even slightly marine/salty, you’ll notice that DNA. Overall: A grown-up coastal freshie that leans woody and smooth, with a steady salty-air signature. Not revolutionary, but really wearable—and different enough from the usual blues to keep it interesting.
