Slay the Sample: Musk Amiri by Ahmed Al Maghribi
Musk Amiri is a fresh, light scent, created by mixing Middle Eastern musks with modern florals.Released around 2021, it is a pleasant creation from the Dubai-based house founded by Kafeel Ahmed. I own quite a number of bottles from this house and have sampled many more. From experience, many tend to smell the same, a small select few are absolute bangers. Then on the odd occasion, you find something like this, it won't blow you away, but neither is it boring. Think a lighter version of Lazy Sunday Morning by Maison Margeila and you will get the vibe of this one. The fragrance is well balanced and & opens with a bright, luminous combination of peony & aldehydes, giving it a crisp, soapy, airy introduction that feels like sunlight on fresh linen. As the scent evolves into the heart, it transitions into a lush, bouquet of white flowers with a classic rose, which adds a soft, creamy texture without becoming overly sweet. The base is where the fragrance gains its Amiri (princely) depth, settling into a foundation of white musk, ambergris and some subtle woody notes. These base notes work together to create a warm, enveloping trail. Performance wise, you can expect a good 6hrs on skin, While the fragrance is inherently soft and clean, its projection is moderate but persistent, creating a refined scent bubble. It's versatility makes it an exceptional choice for year-round wear, though it particularly shines in the spring and summer when those airy florals can truly breathe. It is perfectly suited for professional settings, daytime events, or formal occasions where a discreet aura of cleanliness is desired. My Rating 6.5/10 Scent 2 Longevity 2 Sillage 1.5 Y/N 1

A Different Kind of Prada L'Homme
For those of you who enjoy layering, this was one of those combinations that actually shifted the character of a fragrance in a noticeable way. Bath & Body Works Bourbon hydration body cream under Prada L’Homme. Bourbon lotion is built around white pepper, dark amber, and Kentucky oak. It comes across as warm, slightly spicy, and woody. Prada L’Homme opens with neroli, black pepper, cardamom, and carrot seed, moving into that iris/violet/geranium core, and dries down into amber, cedar, sandalwood, and patchouli. On its own, Prada L’Homme on my skin has always come across very iris/violet-forward, with that powdery, soapy feel. Some liken it to the scent of a freshly pressed dress shirt making it the quintessential office scent. With the Bourbon lotion underneath, what I noticed right away was a retreat in the intensity of the iris and violet. They didn’t disappear, but they stepped back enough to let the base show earlier. As it developed, there was a subtle sweetness and smoothness coming through that resembled that slightly sweetened leather tone I really enjoy in Tom Ford’s Ombré Leather. My sense is the dark amber and oak in the lotion are doing the heavy lifting, adding warmth and depth right from the start and taking the edge off the sharper iris/violet profile, which I don't care for when I wear L'Homme alone. It doesn’t change the DNA of Prada L’Homme, but it redirects it in a way that feels more grounded and, for me, much more desirable, more more wearable for an occasion other than the office. Its a different kind of L'Homme.

Slay the Sample: Bade'e Al Oud Amethyst by Lattafa
Here is another flanker from the Bade'e Al Oud line by Lattafa. Launched in 2021, it is classed as an Amber Vanilla fragrance, a flanker of the beastly Oud for Glory. This is also a powerhouse, with similar DNA too Initio Parfums Privés' Atomic Rose & Psychedelic Love. The fragrance opens with a vibrant zesty burst of bergamot & pink pepper, for a fresh, spicy introduction that immediately captures your attention. As the scent transitions into the heart, it reveals a lush rose combo consisting of both Turkish & Bulgarian roses intertwined with jasmine. This floral core is dense & jammy rather than powdery, creating a rich, romantic atmosphere. The dry-down settles into a deep, base where agarwood (oud), amber, vanilla provide a warm, balsamic, and slightly smoky finish that perfectly balances the sweetness of the rose. In terms of performance, Amethyst is a powerhouse, boasting exceptional longevity 9 hours on the skin and days on clothing. Its projection is strong, it will fill a room easily during the first few hours, settling into a heavy sillage that leaves a strong trail behind the wearer. Due to its intense warmth and floral-oud depth, it is most effectively worn during the fall and winter, or on cooler spring nights. It is an ideal choice for formal occasions, evening wear or date nights, whilst I'm not a fan of the Rose/Oud combos, I'd pass on this one. It is nuclear so please spray with caution.
