SOTD: Pour Homme edt by Dolce & Gabanna 03/06/2026
Dolce & Gabbana Pour Homme edt is one of those timeless fragrances that feels like a true classic, it’s easy to see why it has remained so popular since it first came out in 1994. Created by the talented perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena, this scent was designed to capture the essence of the Mediterranean. It's clean, refined, and stylish. It doesn’t try to be loud or overly complicated; instead, it’s a masterclass in balance & simplicity, the kind of fragrance that feels just as relevant today as it did decades ago. It has that distinct 90s character: fresh, aromatic, and undeniably masculine, without leaning into heavy or synthetic notes that age poorly. From the moment you spray it, you’re hit with a bright, zesty burst of citrus, lemon, bergamot, and mandarin blend perfectly with a touch of crisp grapefruit, making the opening feel incredibly fresh and invigorating. As it settles down into the heart, the citrus softens and gives way to a clean, aromatic mix of lavender, sage, and pepper, which adds a subtle herbaceous warmth and a little bit of spice without ever feeling sharp or overwhelming. Finally, as it dries down completely, the base notes take over: smooth sandalwood, warm cedar, and a gentle hint of tobacco and musk come through, grounding everything beautifully. It’s this progression that makes it so enjoyabe, bright and lively at first, then calm and sophisticated as it lingers on the skin. In terms of performance, this is a solid, reliable fragrance that never lets you down. Projection is moderate—strong enough that people around you will notice, but never so loud that it becomes overpowering or intrusive. On my skin, it lasts around 5 hours, staying consistent from start to finish without fading away too quickly or turning into something unrecognizable. It is absolutely perfect for spring and summer, thanks to that fresh, citrusy opening, but it works surprisingly well in mild autumn weather too. Whether you’re heading to the office, going out for a casual lunch, or dressing up for a smart evening event, it fits every occasion effortlessly, it’s versatile, polite, and always appropriate, which is why it will stay in my collection for years.

SOTD: Galatea by Maison Alhambra 04/06/2026
I already own quite a few excellent fragrances from Maison Alhambra, and I’ve always been impressed by how well they stand up to more expensive brands. They have great alternatives to favorites like PDM’s Hercules and Perseus, which I’ve enjoyed a lot. Lately, I’ve been completely fixated on leather-based scents, so I decided to pick up Galatea, knowing it’s often mentioned as a substitute for Godolphin. Honestly, I was never a huge fan of Godolphin myself, but Galatea is on another level entirely and far better in my opinion. I also love the story behind the name: in Greek myth, Pygmalion was a sculptor who carved Galatea out of ivory, fell deeply in love with his own creation, and prayed to Aphrodite to bring her to life. She granted his wish, and Galatea became real fitting for a scent that feels like a crafted masterpiece. Released in 2022, this is an oriental fragrance built around a rich, distinct leather core that immediately caught my attention. When you first spray it, the opening is really complex and vibrant. You get a lively mix of fruits, mate, fresh green notes, cypress, and thyme. It comes across as quite sharp, fruity, and spicy all at once, which I found really invigorating. As it settles down after about twenty minutes, the heart reveals beautiful florals: rose, orris, and jasmine come through, adding a soft sweetness and a touch of elegance. But don’t worry, the flowers never take over or make it feel too soft or feminine, they simply play a supporting role, letting the real star of the show shine through: that wonderful leather. The dry down is honestly where Galatea becomes something special for me. The leather note is rich and has just a hint of that lovely animalic edge, perfectly balanced by creamy vanilla and warm amber. Underneath it all, cedar and vetiver give it an earthy, woody base, and I can definitely feel the Iso E Super doing its work here, adding that smooth, depthful texture and incredible staying power that I’ve come to love in many great perfumes.

I will never pay for samples. I try to fragrances in stores to taste them. But if I can’t find them anywhere and I’m already familiar with the DNA + it has an spectacular bottle, (doesn’t need to be a perfect clone of any other,) I will blind buy it regardless redundant or not. If I’m not familiar with the DNA, I will do my research and decide if I want to venture buying it base on notes and reviews from people I trust (this is fun to me). If I have already 2 or 3 with the same DNA I will skip it. I will not do this with very expensive fragrance, I definitely have to try them first.

Almost done honoring the votes from my previous poll. (https://www.skool.com/bos/reaching-out-for-hidden-gems-on-my-shelves?p=d371a24d). This one only got one vote, but it was actually my favorite. It’s an alternative to Clive Christian Town & Country. Emeer opens very fresh/aromatic, slightly sweet/citrusy, green, and a bit spicy. As it dries down, starts to turn more resinous, herbal ambery, and woody. This individual is luxurious, distinctive, delicious, alluring, mass appealing, and masculine. Projection and longevity are great. This is a banger.
