Fragrance House Reviews. My Honest Take Next up YSL (Luxury)!!!
YSL Le Vestiaire des Parfums Luxury Line Review YSL’s Le Vestiaire des Parfums is one of the better designer luxury collections, but it is also very uneven. The best fragrances are refined, distinctive, and absolutely capable of competing with niche perfumery. The weaker ones smell good but can feel like polished designer releases placed inside expensive private-line bottles. The collection is built around YSL’s fashion history, with names inspired by clothing, fabrics, and important locations connected to the house. That concept actually works because many of the fragrances match the image behind the name. Tuxedo smells dressed up, Caban feels warm and comfortable, Blouse is soft and fabric-like, and Babycat is sensual with a slightly wild edge. The darker fragrances are easily the strongest part of the collection. This is where YSL gives you leather, suede, incense, patchouli, sandalwood, resins, spices, amber, and vanilla with more depth and texture than the regular line. 6 Place Saint Sulpice may be the best fragrance in the entire collection. It is warm, leathery, resinous, aromatic, mature, and slightly animalic without becoming dirty or hard to wear. It has more depth and seriousness than Tuxedo and feels much closer to what I expect from a true luxury fragrance. Tuxedo is still the most versatile and probably the safest starting point. It has a smooth patchouli, spice, amber, and slightly sweet profile that works for dinners, dates, events, and dressed-up casual wear. The only issue is that it has been copied so many times that the DNA may feel familiar today. That is not because Tuxedo lacks originality. It is because everyone else copied it. Babycat is another standout. The combination of vanilla, pepper, smoke, resin, and suede gives it more personality than a basic sweet vanilla fragrance. It is warm, dark, sensual, and slightly dirty in a good way. 24 Rue de l’Université is one of the smoothest fragrances in the collection. The sandalwood, suede, cedar, and incense create a creamy, polished, quiet-luxury scent. It does not try to fill the room, but it smells expensive up close.
