Got a big presentation to do in work today, so I decided to take this gem for a spin, it might not be the best or even my favourite in the line, but it's certainly worth having. The edp was released in 2018 & continues the Sauvage evolution with a smoother, warmer, slightly more refined take on the original dna. It's a versatile, mass-appealing scent that has an impressive performance & a balanced composition from François Demachy. It opens with a bright, zesty burst of Calabrian bergamot, sharp, juicy, sun-drenched, paired with a hint of spicy Sichuan pepper that adds a subtle, tingling warmth & depth right from the start. As it settles into the heart, the citrus softens, revealing a smooth, aromatic core. lavender, combined with warm geranium and a touch of pink pepper, creating a clean, herbaceous, slightly floral layer that feels refined yet rugged. The dry-down is where Sauvage EDP truly shines: it rests on a rich, earthy base of ambergris, which gives it its signature salty, mineral, oceanic quality, blended with warm vanilla, smoky cedarwood & soft patchouli. These base notes create a creamy, woody, long-lasting foundation, where the freshness of the opening lingers gently while the warmth & depth take center stage. As you might expect, this performs quite well, I get a solid 7hrs on skin.It projects strongly for the first 2–3 hours, filling a room with its distinct scent, before settling into a solid, noticeable sillage that stays close but remains detectable. It is incredibly versatile across seasons:. Perfect for spring & summer, where its fresh, citrusy-aromatic character shines, but equally suited to autumn & winter, as the amber, vanilla, woody notes provide enough warmth to stand up to cooler weather. One of the reasons I asked about discontinued fragrances, this is a banger, and if the OG is better, I gotta have it. Lemme know if any of you smelled the original, or this for that matter. Says it’s “unisex”, but I think it’s masculine. Then again my nose is young.
