📍Where is everyone from?📍
Hello Facilitators👋 I'm really curious about where everyone is from. I'd love to make this a mega post where we can see how diverse the Facilitator Club community is. Who knows, you might find a lot more people in your area than you thought! Once I have lots of answers on this post, I want to make a nice graph!

Your Thoughts - When Exercises Don't Go As Planned
Hi Everyone! What do you do whenever an exercise doesn't go over the way you had hoped or some technical aspect of what you had planned fails in some way? For instance, I was conducting an ideation session using sticky notes and the notes just weren't sticking (i.e. they were falling down). I had done something similar to this before without issues. This situation in particular created a funny moment but it also slightly impeded being able to move forward with what I had planned (i.e. everyone being able to organize their ideas, vote, etc.). Is there an alternative to using sticky notes that would work better somehow? Thanks for your thoughts!

@Raj Mehta Love this response Raj, not only did you laugh and move on but also a possible collaboration taking place with the group especially if it was awkward at the beginning!!
1.5 hour strategy workshop - £1k
Hi all, I thought i'd share an interesting workshop I ran recently - hopefully it's helpful for someone else who has a similar challenge or brief! The client is a large charity and this was their brief: Produce a short vision statement for our future digital fundraising and engagement and the required transformation over our strategy period (they obviously shared context of their org strategy etc). I split this up into two stages: 1) Vision & 2) Required Transformation. Here are the exercises I ran: 1️⃣ Vision ➡️ Lightning Demos (this helped us focus on the market and the team created some really great How Might Wes). We clustered these to use as stimulus for the next exercise. ➡️ Vision Statement Drawing. People drew their vision statement and presented back to the group. I was mindful that if we asked people to write them they would get caught up in the language rather than the overall concepts. We asked them to share their vision and gathered the main themes. 2️⃣ Required Transformation ➡️ We then essentially did a Lightning Decision Jam which I don't need to explain! This was a fun one to run but I was very worried about timings, we did get everything done on time though which was a relief! I was constantly talking about pace and how it's going to feel like everything is going WAY too fast before and during the workshop and I think that helped a lot! They just could not get people together for longer but all worked out ok! I've had some really positive feedback from the client and recently ran a training session for them too so hoping to run more sessions with them next year 😁 Shout if you have any questions! 😀

Facilitation for kids (9-11 yrs old)
The school of my kids offers the opportunity to organise workshops for the kids and I would like to participate in this. I'm thinking of subjects and exercises that are suitable for kids in the age of 9-11 years old. One of my ideas is to organise a light version of the design sprint or where they can think of a new toy or game, but maybe this is too conceptual. Has any one experience with this?

Joost - I remember as a young 10 year old we have to design a board game which was brilliant everyone was excited and then we spent a whole morning testing out each table's board game. Simple board games may be fun - they could eventually market it!!! Have fun!
Help with facilitating my first official workshop.
Hi everyone, please I need your help on this one. I’m a fresh graduate and I have an opportunity to return to the university where I got my first bachelor degree to organise a design thinking workshop. The workshop will be will be for 96 students split into 8 groups of 12 & the workshop will hold for 2 days. The students have no previous know-how of design thinking and at the end of the workshop they need to pitch a product/service idea to a jury (like the series Dragon’s Den). Please I’ll appreciate any help & tips regarding how I can make this a successful experience for both the students and my self. It’s a big opportunity for my career and I really want to make the best out of it. Thank you in advance.
