Chris' Education Articles 🧠
Quick update for everyone 👇🏽 We’ve added to the classroom: “Education Posts from Chris Hinshaw” It’s a collection of 24 research-based articles written by Chris, all focused on helping you better understand how to train and improve for HYROX. Some papers include: • “How to Recover Your Breathing” • “Push the sled without destroying your run” • “Why HYROX athletes fall apart late” If you’re someone who likes to understand the why behind what you’re doing, it’s worth spending some time in there. You’ll find it in the classroom now...go and check it out and let us know what you think! If you have any questions on topics...post them on the feed! 👍🏽

Incredible share and content! I’ve been working on improved respiration cadence that Chris touched upon and didnt realize I was a hyperventilator. 😂 Controlled exhale and deep inhales have helped my RPE both running and on skierg. To all: invest in your growth by picking a topic from the classroom and practicing it intentionally to address a rate limiter (weakness)..🔥
Top tips
Hi everyone. Newbie here and looking for some top tips. My name is Kate from the UK. I have competed in 2 Hyrox mixed doubles with my husband. We were in London this weekend and made significant improvements on our time.( from 1:19 - 1:14 ) this was just by increasing our running significantly. However I am finding personally I crash around the 4th/5th run, after sled pull and burpees my HR takes a hit and I can’t get it back down until after the row. This is significantly impacting our run times at that stage. The last couple of runs and stations I’m back and feel good. Any tips to train this or to help with the HR spike. I crashed at the same point both races. Thanks in advance all

Have you considered during race fueling (eg, gels)? I would definitely recommend 1-2 times based on your time (~75min). It can physiologically help, if not mentally. Also, consider more active recovery during your training. I’m aspiring as well, so no expert, but I continue to get recos to move in between training sets, which can help with re-oxygenation and ATP production. Agree with the others…its great you’ve identified rate limiters. I personally like using my wearable to ensure the hard days are hard and the easy days are easy. The in between zone seems to not pay as much dividends. Keep racing!
Introduction
Hi everyone, I’m Ross — great to connect with you all. I’ve just returned from the HYROX Coaches Summit, where I had the chance to learn directly from some of the best in the sport. I discovered this group through Chris Henshaw during his workshop. A bit about my journey: over the past two years I’ve managed to cut my own HYROX race time by 1 hour and 25 minutes, through smarter and consistent training, more structured conditioning blocks, and continually refining my approach to hybrid performance and HYROX movement efficiency. It’s been a huge learning curve, and hopefully I will be able to share what’s worked and also learn from you all! Looking forward to contributing and connecting with the community. 💪🔥

Looks amazing. Felt my adrenaline spike as video began. Having had the pleasure of listening to Chris present in person, no doubt this was a banger session. 💪🏼 If get the chance, find a way to attend any in person session with Chris!

4:30. My technique had evolved from step-up only to transition to knee ups, as I start to lose my breath. I believe the key is to find a way to keep going and not standing too tall (wasted transverse plane energy). Yes, you do see some E15 athletes using knee-up modification and yes the knee up can scrape/bloody you in shorts. 😂
