🌿 7-Day Challenge Accountability Thread
Hey everyone, whether you’re starting fresh because you just arrived or you’re restarting like me to re-establish your practice, this is our spot. The 7-day challenge always feels more grounding when we move together, so this post will stay pinned for our daily check-ins. Let’s show up, keep it simple, and take it one day at a time. ✅ How to Check In Each Day After you finish your practice, follow these three steps: 1. State which day of the challenge you’re on. Example: Day 1, Day 3, Day 7, etc. 2. How you felt before and after. One short sentence for each. 3. Screenshot or photo: A quick picture of your screen, TV, or you practicing. Feel free to leave encouragement for others. A little support goes a long way. ✨ Sample Check-In 1. Day: 1 2. Before: Feeling tight 3. After: Calm and relaxed 4. (Photo attached)

@Alan Hubble the posture is where Im trying to improve. I enjoy the 'bear turns his back' it feels good to stretch and move the spine in that way. As one gets older things solidify and calcify...
Introducing: Posture Lab
We’re excited to open a new space in our community: Posture Lab — a focused area for refining your form and deepening your understanding of movement. 🔎 What is Posture Lab? Posture Lab is a space where you can share a photo or video of your Tai Chi or Qigong practice if you’d like more intentional guidance from Sonny. Because we practice online and can’t always adjust you in person, this space helps bridge that gap. Small adjustments can often create profound changes in how the body feels and moves. It’s designed to help you: - Refine alignment - Improve structure and balance - Understand principles more deeply - Connect posture to internal concepts like Song (松, relaxation), rooting, and center ✔️ How to Use It & Maximize Your Practice To get the most out of Posture Lab: - Upload a clear photo or short video (side view, front view, or both — even better!). - You can focus on one movement or posture at a time, or share a full sequence like the Beijing 24 Form. It’s completely up to you — the goal is to support your practice and study. - Share what you’re experiencing or unsure about. After receiving guidance: - Revisit the movement slowly. - Apply one adjustment at a time. - Notice how it changes your sensation, balance, and breathing. 💡 Example You might post a short clip of your Horse Stance and say: “I feel centered, but my thighs burn quickly and my shoulders feel tight.” Feedback might explore: - Knee tracking over the toes - Pelvic position - Shoulder relaxation (Song) - Weight distribution through the feet Often, one small structural shift can reduce strain or discomfort significantly. Posture Lab is a supportive space where you can study your own practice with curiosity and thoughtful exploration. Sharing your practice supports not only your own growth but also helps others learn through observation. This is an intentional space where you can deepen your study of Tai Chi and Qigong online and build a stronger relationship with your body and the way you practice.

Practice Pants
I was wonder if anyone could recommend a brand or brands of pants for practice? I usually use sports store jogging bottoms, but especially as we come into Spring I thought it would be better to have something more breathable, quite loose fitting, with natural material, and reasonably well wearing. Especially for practice outside. Something with a bit of a drop crotch as you see in some communities in the Far East, South Asia, and parts of the Middle East. I've looked online at harem pants and stuff like that, but they tend to be too baggy, fashion statementy, and not that well made or hard wearing.

Golden Rooster
I have a question about Golden Rooster posture. Should the raised leg stay at hip level like 90 degrees, or is it acceptable to lift it higher than 90 degrees? I notice that when I lift my leg higher than hip level, I feel stronger core engagement, but my Tai Ji line tends to lean backward a little bit although I try to stay upright. Also, what are some practical tips to improve balance and stability in one-legged postures like this so I feel less wobbly?

Yeah i noticed i got a wobbly on one side. When Sonny talked about raising the hand like one was lifting a plate and the knee was supporting that, then the wobble became less pronounced with the solid grounded foot. The elbow and the knee the hand and the foot.... but go you guys!
