Welcome Marty. Glad to have you in the community.
Initial Experience in Rooted Alchemy
I am now in my second week and truly enjoying the content, the instruction, and the community. Sonny, your ability to clearly articulate each movement, stance, and purpose behind what we practice is exceptional. It makes it much easier to follow along and replicate what you present in every lesson. There is a wide range of lessons available, and for someone without a background in Qi Gong or Tai Chi, it can be challenging to determine which lesson to take next in order to build logically on previously learned skills. With so much material, it’s not always easy to identify the next step in a structured progression. I’ve always approached learning the way one builds a house: first the foundation, then the structure, and finally the functional features layered on top. That step-by-step progression is how I’m most comfortable learning. To solve this, I decided to keep a notebook with me during each instructional video. As I go through the lessons, I record the video title, its location, and detailed notes on what it teaches and emphasizes—including terminology, positions, and stances. Over time, I expect this will allow me to organize the lessons into a sequence that supports steady and efficient progress. After practicing several rounds of the 7-Day Challenge, I came across the video Qi & Flow 1.29.26. That was a great discovery. It incorporated elements from the 7-Day Challenge and tied them together beautifully. I would describe it as an excellent lesson on grounding, shifting stance, and flowing into movement, finishing with a short form that integrates everything. I’m very glad to have discovered Rooted Alchemy and to be part of this community.

I really appreciate the care and intention you’re putting into developing the training structure. Organizing the live sessions into 8-week cycles sounds like a great approach—it should provide a clear path for students while still allowing people at different levels to grow at their own pace. I also completely understand your hesitation about structuring things too tightly in the beginning. Letting the method evolve naturally with real practitioners involved seems like a wise way to build something authentic and effective. It’s great to see how the community’s input is helping shape the direction. I’m also glad the notebook/journal idea resonates. Having a place to track practice, reflections, and personal insights could really help deepen the learning process. I’m excited to see how that develops and how the training cycles unfold. Thanks again for all the effort you’re putting into the community—it really shows. 🙏

Hi everyone! One of our core missions is to provide an online practice space where you can learn Tai Chi and Qigong in an efficient and effective way. We’re always looking for ways to optimize your experience and make your practice more organized and intentional. With that in mind, we’ve restructured the Weekly Live Session Classroom. Old Format 👉 Live sessions were organized by month only. (Hard to navigate which classes included which practices, and it could feel overwhelming) NEW Format 👉 You will still see this month’s live sessions (and the previous month’s) listed as usual. 👉 After two months, all live sessions will be reorganized into CATEGORIZED practice series. What this means... for example, - If a weekly Qigong session focuses on Elemental Qigong, it will be placed inside the "Elemental Qigong" folder. - If a Qi & Flow session focuses on Tai Chi fundamentals, it will be placed inside the "Tai Chi Fundamentals" folder. Simple as that! No more guessing which class includes what practice! This way, you’ll be able to find exactly what you’re looking for—faster and more easily—without scrolling through months of recordings. Each session will also include a brief summary, so you can quickly understand what was covered and take notes more effectively. We hope this makes your study clearer, more structured, and easier to revisit over time. And as always, if you have any feedback—now or in the future—please feel free to share it. Your voice truly matters to us, and we deeply appreciate your input. Happy practicing, Rooted Alchemy fam!🌱

🌿 7-Day Challenge Accountability Thread
Hey everyone, whether you’re starting fresh because you just arrived or you’re restarting like me to re-establish your practice, this is our spot. The 7-day challenge always feels more grounding when we move together, so this post will stay pinned for our daily check-ins. Let’s show up, keep it simple, and take it one day at a time. ✅ How to Check In Each Day After you finish your practice, follow these three steps: 1. State which day of the challenge you’re on. Example: Day 1, Day 3, Day 7, etc. 2. How you felt before and after. One short sentence for each. 3. Screenshot or photo: A quick picture of your screen, TV, or you practicing. Feel free to leave encouragement for others. A little support goes a long way. ✨ Sample Check-In 1. Day: 1 2. Before: Feeling tight 3. After: Calm and relaxed 4. (Photo attached)

I’ve officially reached Day 6 of my fitness journey, and I’m feeling great! I’m definitely starting to notice the physical impact—my muscles, particularly my calves, are feeling the work today. It’s a rewarding challenge, and I’m looking forward to keeping this momentum going.

I am new to Tai Ji and live in a small rural town in Kansas. There is no resources to learn Tai Ji out here. I was very excited to find this group of amazing people. I am a retired military pilot and on my 25th year working as an Emergency Room Nurse. At my age I find it more difficult recovering from my night shifts and am looking forward to discovering new energy
