Using 'How Might We' - a game changer!
Little success story from today, I wanted to share. I had a meeting booked today with a few people from a team who were experiencing some challenges. Previously it would have just been a chat, and I would have taken notes.. and then probably designed another session to work out what they could do.. BUT I decided to change it up.. in that 'meeting' I changed it to a workshop, I explained I wanted them to identify their challenges and then we reframed them as 'How Might We' questions.. which then led to some great discussion and excellent ideas for possible solutions. This all happened in 30 minutes!! This is definitely the way to go from now on!

How to: measuring agile maturity
I have been asked to measure the agility maturity of a number of teams. I can create a matrix for the basics (daily standup, agile board, retrospective, etc.). Something either exists or it doesn't. :-) But I want to give a workshop for the agile values. A 'values game' in which they share their experiences with agile values in four areas. Now my question, is this a useful way to collect data and how do I get it translated to a certain agile maturity level? I'm thinking of some kind of graph now. Anyone have input on this? Thanks all, Edgar

Hi Edgar, with regards to Agile Maturity, I did a little work with my teams on this earlier this year. We thought about using the Scrum Checklist, it might be a good tool for you? What we ended up doing was a Squad reflection exercise, similar to the Spotify Health check model. rather than assessing against an 'Agile criteria'. We came up with some statements that the team members would agree or disagree with on a scale 1-5. We had 4 areas, each with about 6 statements in. For example, 'We have regular opportunities to check in and reflect to improve, i.e. retrospectives'. The collated data for each statement area would then be displayed on a radar graph. We could then use that visual data to start discussions in the workshop. To create the survey and collect the data for the radar graph we used a tool called Team Retro. The whole process worked really well.
Lean games for 30+ people
Hi everyone! 😀I’m looking for some activity ideas for a team workshop which promotes becoming “lean”. Does anyone have any experiences in holding “lean activities/games”?

Hi Julie, a couple of lean games I have used before are the name game - which highlights the problem of multitasking , and we should be limiting Work in Progress. This can be done in-person or remotely. Also, The Penny Game is a nice simple game to use to look at the benefit of smaller batch sizes.
Team Building and Project Management
Hello facilitators, I was asked by a friend to help out with the above theme. What is the best way to approach this if you have done this before ? I need ideas on exercises and how to plan … Thank you

Hi Benedict, is it a new team that is working on a project? Is it in-person or remote? With any new team, doing some 'getting to know each other' exercises are quite good, such as 2 truths and a lie or personal maps. Then also building a Team Charter together, sets team expectations, by defining their values and behaviours, and logistics like how they will work, when they will meet and how often etc.
