A question about growing connections

I was excited to see that I reached level 3 today. I looked at people in the first 2 sections of members and clicked on some who caught my interest, to follow. But I don't know how to follow them. I also clicked on a few who I felt were well aligned to my work, or who interested me in what they are doing, to chat. But I don't know who they are. I didn't keep a note of them and I don't know how we chat.

I am so green - so new to this community. Can you give me some guidance please.

returning to this message - because I have been here and there on the Skool platform and now can't find where I started. It was where everyone is posting messages and then we can like and comment. There's an arrow at the bottom that takes you to the latest comments. It's similar to where we are here but not the same. Also is it possible to find a record of what messages we - or others - have shared?
