Good morning gentlemen, I love reading success stories especially of those that have overcome adversities in their lives. I especially love the ones of those who grew up in bad or difficult environments, not because enjoy seeing of hearing about bad things that happen to people, but because I love hearing how they persevered through those hard times and made those times their fuel to light that fire in them to push through and overcome their situations and to rise out of the ashes of that period of their lives. I cannot say that I had a bad or rough life, just the opposite, I had a pretty good childhood; not a perfect one, but better than most people having a two-parent household, siblings, parents and other family members who very much evolved in our lives. Did I understand how blessed I was? No, did I take the opportunities that were offered? No, I just assumed they were stupid, not for me, or just did not care. So, as I read about others who overcame adversities in their lives, I think about how blessed I was and how I took the blessings I had or received for granted, it pushes me to want to make a deference in someone's life and somehow repay what I squandered to help others. And to take these stories to help remind me of how blessed I was and how I can be a blessing to others. One thing I learned from reading all these stories is this: After a certain age, you are no longer the product of your environment or how you were raised. It's a personal choice to live the way you do. At some point blaming your past becomes a distraction from your future. Healing is your responsibility. Growth is your decision.
