Most people think playing Santa is about the suit. It’s not. It’s about responsibility. When I step into that role, I’m not pretending. I’m showing up for kids who still believe in something bigger than noise and screens. I’m showing up for parents who need their kids to feel safe, seen, and joyful, even if just for a moment. From my own life, I know what it feels like when someone shows up for you without asking for anything in return. That’s what Santa represents to me — presence, consistency, and quiet leadership. It’s not about being jolly. It’s about being steady. I don’t take that lightly. Never have. Never will. Grateful for the kids, the families, and the chance to be part of something that still matters.

So the originally plan was this would be a short week with a trip to visit the nephews and in-laws for Christmas on Thursday, but now it’s still a short week with shoulder surgery on Thursday. While I am in pain, I’m not letting it stop me from looking and presenting my best. An appointment, taping, paperwork and fitting in a haircut today. We have a higher end thrift store here sponsored by the local Junior League chapter which is filled with brand name items. I found out that the members are required to donate monthly and have a minimum amount they are required to donate. Well it’s worth the occasional visit as there are some good finds and as I continue my weigh loss journey, I’m able to fit into more of the options. This past weekend, I visited and found these like new Allen Edmonds for a steal. I like the two toned color, allowing me to show personality while keeping with in professional footwear.
