I got thinking about my protein shake use after it being part of the Skool discussion yesterday. After joining BBB, I added protein shakes to my diet in attempts to increase my protein. After being on the program for a while, I can see that I was adding protein shakes, protein powder into meals, and protein bars. At one point, I was probably letting this become too much of my diet. It was replacing a lot of food. And hence, another "diet". I took a step back and realized that this was not my best option. Something that Coach @Darren Liu said yesterday struck a chord with me. Protein shakes and protein replacements are to be just that. They are to supplement your diet, not be the diet. We should enjoy eating our food vs just drinking our food. We miss the enjoyment if we only have shakes. (I did not go back to get his exact wording, but something along this line). Currently, I have been using protein shakes, powders, or bars to supplement my meals instead of being my meal. I will use a protein shake if I am short on time or get hungry and cannot eat a full meal yet. It is more of a place holder now. I am still a work in progress, but I want to have a healthy relationship with food. I want to enjoy real food and to be able to reach my goals. Protein shakes will help when needed, but not my main source of protein anymore. Just a reflection. Will continue to grow.
