This morning I went to 6am HIIT and it was cold as fudge — 47° for a Californian is basically Antarctica 🥶😝
(Shoutout to the snow warriors, I know, I know 😂)
Because of the early class, I had to swap and do morning drop-off for my daughter. She gets out of the car… then suddenly taps on my window like she forgot something.
In my head:
“Goodness… holy grail… what did she forget at home NOOOOW?”
Then a young boy walks up to my window.
He introduces himself:
“Hi, Evelynne’s mom. My name is Ian. I wanted to ask for your permission if I could take Evelynne out on Valentine’s Day.”
😳😳😳
I was speechless for a second.
I told him:
“Thank you for being very respectful to me and to our daughter by asking for permission. Can I think about it and get back to you?”
He replied:
“Of course. I can give you my number in case you have any questions.”
So… we exchanged numbers… and drove off.
I get home and tell her stepdad. His response?
“HELLLLLLL NOOOOOOO!!!
That wouldn’t have happened if I drove her to school. The kids planned this! If they didn’t get you this morning, they were gonna get you at pickup!” 🤣
I told him:
“Listen… give the boy some credit. He had the guts to ask permission and was respectful.”
He pauses… scratches his head…
“…yeah… I guess I give him credit for that.”
urrrrgggghhhhh 😩😂
So now… I need guidance.
