Dark Rant: AI is making everything online worse
I know I'm going to bother some AI enthusiasts with this, but this is my perception as someone who has to use AI daily and works with cybersecurity and content creation on the side. I welcome anyone to give me a new perspective and show me another side. The advances of AI are bringing a lot of conveniences for our lives, but I fear we are leaving the golden age to enter darker times. We are entering a crisis caused by AI inflation that is making everything online loose it's value. That includes not only content creation but also: remote jobs and freelancing, online education and certifications/diplomas, online banking and authentication methods for apps in general and overall online interactions. The convenience of doing most of those things online are slowly being taken away from us because it's getting easier and easier to take advantage of the system for malicious intent. Not mentioning that in order to compete with AI we need to work 10 times harder than before to get much smaller rewards. The easiest thing to realize that AI is shitfying is content. Blogs, social media posts, youtube channels are all flooded with AI slop. And even people who put their faces on cameras, without AI avatars, are using AI more and more for the scripts, a lot of times in very obvious ways. And the thing about content that starts with AI is that a lot of times it lacks depth. If you read a poem writen by a poet, you can get a deeper meaning out of it every time you read it. The opposite happens with AI poems, the more you read it, the less it makes sense. That effect goes for any peace of AI content that is not tweaked enough, the more you look at it, the worse it gets. Here are the not so apparent problems: If you go to freelancing platorms you can already see that most people answer with AI agents. And some platforms are even incentivizing AI agents to act as freelancers. A friend of mine was a freelance translator and now can't get a job anymore as translations are among the easiest tasks for LLMs.
