What your Fingertip Pulse Oximeter says about your Breath-Holds
When you hold your breath for longer than 30 seconds, you may experience: - A drop in your heart rate - Reduced blood flow to the limbs - Increase in red blood cells This set of responses is called the Mammalian Dive Response. We like to call it the Inner Dolphin. You awaken your inner dolphin by holding your breath and by immersing your face in cold water. Have you already completed the 7-Day Breath Hold Challenge? If not, on Day 5 we set out to find your inner dolphin with a special technique. Now, you may ask yourself… How do I know that my inner dolphin is awake? Continue reading to detect that playful little mammal.

Inhale vs. Exhale: Find Out With Triangle Breathing
Should I do breath holding after an inhale? Or after an exhale? If you scour the internet, you’ll find that the answers are all over the place! - Buteyko & Oxygen Advantage opts for after a passive exhale. - Wim Hof goes really hard, and holds after a forceful exhale. - Freedivers mimic real life diving by holding after a full inhale. Which one is the best? As much as we like easy answers (hence the “DO this, NOT that” thumbnails plastered all over social media), the reality is: it depends. What are you trying to achieve? And how far are you in your breath holding journey? Thankfully, there is a way to find out for yourself what you should be focusing next on. You see, there is this breathing technique where you can let your body give you the answer. It’s called Triangle Breathing. Read the post below to find out how it works… (and how it helps you determine which breath holds you should focus on next!)
