This week, I had the pleasure of trying out my sample of Halfeti by Penhaligon's, and I can confidently say this modern classic truly embodies a gentlemanly fragrance. Upon the initial spray, I was greeted with the refreshing aroma of green pine needles and rich cedar wood. This combination sets a sophisticated tone right from the start. After about half a minute, a clean citrus note joins the woody opening, adding a bright and invigorating aspect to the scent. Approximately ten minutes in, the fragrance evolves, revealing a light, fresh rose complemented by nutmeg, which gradually takes the lead over the citrus notes while the woody notes remain steadfast. As the fragrance develops further into the drydown around the 20-minute mark, the scent transforms into a prominent cedar wood base, intertwined with a sweet amber that harmonizes beautifully with the wood. This balance creates a warm, inviting finish that feels both elegant and comforting. In terms of performance, Halfeti excels in a professional office setting. While it lingers nicely on the skin, the projection is moderate, ensuring it doesn't overwhelm the space around you. I found that it projected well for about two hours before settling closer to the skin, but I could still catch whiffs of it by the end of my workday. This makes it an ideal choice for an office environment, where you want to make a statement without being overpowering.
