SOTD: LONE No.9 Intense Oud by The Perfume Shop 15/06/2026
Released in 2023 as part of The Perfume Shop’s in-house LONE range. From memory this gives me some serious Ombre Nomad vibes. I'm not a huge fan of oud/rose combos, but this one hits just right. It's expertly crafted & follows the same oriental‑woody blueprint: top notes of raspberry, saffron and rose; heart of geranium and smoky incense; base of smooth oud, amber and benzoin. No fancy niche perfumer behind it, just a commercial interpretation built to capture that rich, desert‑luxury vibe without the £250+ price tag. If you want Ombré Nomad character on a budget, this is the one they line up directly against it. First spray: you get that bright, juicy raspberry‑saffron sweetness immediately, soft, not sugary, with just enough floral rose to keep it balanced. Within 20–30 minutes it shifts: incense kicks in, bringing that dry, smoky, resinous warmth, and the oud starts to show itself, earthy, slightly leathery, no harsh chemical bite. It evolves exactly like the original: fruity opening, spicy‑smoky heart, deep woody‑amber drydown. It’s noticeably smoother than many of the Middle Eastern bottles in my collection. The blend feels intentional, not thrown together. On skin it stays true to its profile, no weird off‑notes or synthetic tang. At about€60 for 100ml EDP, it’s a steal, with current deals you can get up to 20% off. So how close is it? Well I don't actually have a bottle of the LV, but based on memory, from in store sampling, it hits the same mood and scent family, but lacks the ultra‑fine complexity and rare‑materials depth of Ombré Nomade. Performance is about 5hrs hours on skin, moderate projection for the first 2–3 hours, then skin‑close; spray 3–4 times or hit clothes for better longevity. Not a room‑filler, but way better than most flankers. If you love Ombré Nomad but hate the bill, this is the best accessible match, it's wearable, consistent, and gives you almost exactly what you want.
