SOTD/Review: French Avenue Ravine Ginger
Inspired by: Goldfield & Banks Ingenious Ginger On the opening with that first spray i’m immediately hit with a fresh, spicy energy that feels bright and modern. It is driven by ginger, lemon and bergamot, giving a sharp, zesty citrus burst with that distinctive ginger bite that feels almost fizzy and invigorating. It’s fresh but with attitude - the ginger adds a spicy kick that keeps it from being just another citrus scent. As it settles, the fragrance softens into a more refined heart where orange blossom and jasmine take centre stage, adding a smooth floral layer that balances the sharpness of the opening. The florals aren’t heavy or overly sweet - they simply round out the composition, giving it a clean, slightly creamy elegance while still letting that fresh spicy character shine through. In the dry down, the scent becomes warmer and more comforting as vanilla, amber and sandalwoodcome forward, creating a smooth, slightly creamy base that sits close to the skin. Patchouli and muskadd depth and longevity, giving the fragrance a soft woody-musky finish that feels polished and modern rather than heavy. Performance is solid, generally around 7–9 hours with a noticeable projection early on before settling into a clean, refined scent bubble. It leaves a fresh, spicy-citrus trail with a warm undertone that feels both energetic and sophisticated. Overall this is a bright, slightly spicy and effortlessly wearable - like a sparkling ginger citrus scent that evolves into a smooth vanilla-woody finish, making it perfect for spring, summer and everyday wear when you want something fresh but still a bit different. I can’t compare with the OG currently but would be interested to know if anybody has both and their take. Overall rating: 8.5/10
