SOTD/Review: French Avenue Liquid Brun Limited Edition (SAMPLE)
Just obtained a sample of French Avenue’s Liquid Brun Limited Edition which is an extrait de parfum that takes the familiar DNA of the original Liquid Brun and refines it into a richer, more polished, and more luxurious experience. This opens with a warm yet vibrant blend of bergamot, cardamom, cinnamon, and orange blossom. The bergamot provides a bright, citrus lift that prevents the opening from feeling heavy, while cardamom and cinnamon introduce an immediate spiced warmth. Orange blossom sits subtly in the background, smoothing the spices with a gentle floral sweetness rather than dominating the composition. Compared to the original, the opening here feels more refined and less sharp, with better separation between the notes. As the top notes settles, the fragrance transitions into a creamy and resinous heart built around vanilla and elemi. This is where the Limited Edition clearly distinguishes itself. The vanilla is fuller, smoother, and more enveloping, giving the fragrance a richer gourmand character without becoming cloying. Elemi adds a soft balsamic warmth that enhances depth and continuity, allowing the scent to evolve naturally rather than shifting abruptly. In the dry-down, this reveals its strongest qualities. Praline introduces a subtle nutty sweetness that blends seamlessly with ambroxan’s amber-woody warmth. Guaiac wood adds a faint smoky nuance, while musk ties everything together into a smooth, sensual base. The result is a long-lasting, warm gourmand-woody trail that feels polished, comforting, and quietly powerful rather than loud. As an extrait, the performance is a clear strength. Longevity is excellent, exceeded ten hours on my skin, with strong projection in the first few hours before settling into a consistent, noticeable scent bubble. The sillage is refined rather than aggressive, making it suitable for evening wear, colder weather, and occasions where presence matters. Right, comparing this to the original Liquid Brun, this Limited Edition does not reinvent the scent but significantly improves its execution. Both share the same core structure, but the original feels lighter, slightly sharper in the opening, and less dense through the heart and base. The Limited Edition benefits from higher concentration and improved blending, resulting in a smoother transition between stages, a richer vanilla presence, and a deeper, longer-lasting dry-down.

@S. k. Rowe smells really good, much better than the og in my opinion, the fact it’s an extrait is giving the notes more chance to stand out

Valentino Uomo Born in Roma Ivory edt
Fresh spicy, lavendery, bit citrus (bergamot) which is short-lived, aromatic opening Lactonic, creamy, milky, bit vanillic are major players on this fragrance Good projection and sillage Very comforting, enveloping, and caressing type of fragrance Much like a pillow scent for me.. Very mature, modern. and versatile scent Semi-gourmand, delicious, easy to like Good for office wear but best for intimate, relaxing, calm evenings and nights alone Best for Fall and Winter Woody, smooth creamy, powdery, bit smoky on dry down You have to really look for the smokiness here.. it happens the late dry down and on some wearing, it does not even show up.. weird ain't it.. in other words it is easy to miss.. If you are expecting like a By The Fireplace type of smokiness, this is not the one.. Solid, matte-like monochromatic ivory color; classic rockstud design; golden collar; light flimsy cap; good atomizer Moderate longevity Prominent for 1-2 hours and stays as a skin scent for 2-3 more hours Definitely needs some re-spraying Good overall performance I would highly recommend VUBIR Ivory ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ For me the scent is very addictive, pleasant, not overpowering.. this fragrance is for personal satisfaction because it is not loud, does not scream.. it's just there to accompany and hug you..

I think it’s a lovely scent, very pleasant and underrated. Good review, more or less spot on with how I’d review it 👌🏻

Giving this guy another shot after its mediocre performance on me last time. I have to say the spice bomb DNA is super distinct. Hard to stand out like this when there are so many options. So far it’s performing nicely and smelling great. Ill give an update at hour 5

Hopefully works for you, I never have an issue with it and lasts me at least 6hrs before becoming a skin scent
SOTD: The One Parfum Dolce & Gabanna 18/01/2026
Picked this up last weekend, I got an older version of the edt last year. I've heard there is a reformulated version out now, but Have not had my nose on it yet. The parfum was released at the very end of 2025 by Jean-Christophe Hérault and was said to have fixed the performance issues that everyone had with the edp. It's certainly more concentrated, a denser, longer lasting formula, but maybe at a cost. You will still recognize that amazing DNA from the edp, but this is it's grown up brother so too speak. As it opens up, you still get a burst of citrus, but instead of the juicy grapefruit from the EDP, the Parfum uses Tarocco Orange and Black Pepper. It feels darker and slightly more Wintery from the start. A heavy dose of Labdanum and Clary Sage in the heart creates a thick, balsamic middle. It feels more mature and less playful than previous versions. Like most of these amazing cold weather fragrances, it's the base where the Parfum shines. The signature Tobacco note is intensified and paired with a rich Amber accord and Cedarwood. It smells more like a luxury cigar lounge, warm, smoky, and slightly sweet. Whilst the edp only lasted on my skin for 4 hours, there it an improment here at between 6-7hrs. It's projection is moderate, It doesn't scream, but it creates a dense "bubble" around you for the first 3 hours. But it does leave a noticeable trail behind you as you walk around in the cold. This is a solid fragrance for Winter nights, black-tie events, and date nights where you need your scent to last. The grown up version of the classic. ABest for: Winter nights, black-tie events, and date nights where you need your scent to last until morning. A must-buy if you loved the original but hated the performance; a "try before you buy" if you specifically loved the original My Rating 8/10 Scent 2.5 Longevity 2.5 Sillage 2 Y/N 1
