WINNER for "The Scent That Started Your Journey" Challenge 🄁🄁
Gents — this challenge was a blast! These stories have been pure gold. Funny, real, nostalgic, and honestly the kind of posts that make this community what it is. Now… for the winner 🄁🄁🄁 šŸ† WINNER: @Lon Chaneyfield Lon took us straight back to 1981 — college in upstate New York, right after the disco/rock era — when he wasn’t exactly Mr. Smooth with the ladies. Then there was his buddy David: not the best-looking guy on campus, but somehow he had this magnetism Lon couldn’t explain. At first, Lon thought it was style — so he upgraded the wardrobe (serious Ferris Bueller vibes šŸ˜‚). But the ā€œit factorā€ still wasn’t there. Then came the moment that changed everything: On the way to a keg party, David insisted on running back to the dorm for one thing — a little white bottle. Not a clone. Not a random splash. YSL Kouros. Lon could immediately sense the power of it — bold, animalistic, unforgettable — and then watched David’s magnetism in real time at the party. The next morning, Lon made his move: with his brand-new first credit card, he hopped a bus to JCPenney and bought his first cologne for himself. And from there? The rest is basically 80s history. Lon says Kouros became tied to so many peak memories that even today, he doesn’t really wear it out… but at home? One spray and it’s instant time travel. That’s the power of scent right there. @Lon Chaneyfield — love this story! Everyone else: keep those stories coming in the feed! These are the kind of stories that make this community what it is.

SOTD: YSL Y Elixir
I picked up this one recently for a deal. This one has the classic YSL dna with a note of mild oud in the background. Work safe/ spring/ summer / fall is best. Casual/ daytime or formal. Longevity is 7-8 hours with about 1.5 ft projection. Presentation is the classic YSL bottle with a good atomizer and a hearty cap that snaps into place. This one to me is redundant to the others in the line. Not worth the inflated ā€œelixirā€ price tag imo even at discounters. If you can get it for a deal it’s worth it. If not I would pass on this one especially if you have others in the lineup. 7.5/10

Sorry i haven’t been as active. Busy with working two jobs, saving up, trynna make my life better. But hey, decided to up things up a bit and get a sample set from Xerjoff. Anyways big shoutout to my bruddah @Paul Bartnicki for recommending them in the first place, and helping me to pick great samples! Before we get into it, wanna give yall a little life update. Things are going well, i’m recovering, my friend is healing nicely, and im working two steady jobs. I showed my friends seasons 1 and 2 of one of my favorite shows of all time, Smiling Friends. I think they thought i was a weirdo lol, but i consistently quote it, and now they’ll finally get my references! If you’re into weird, surreal, dark humor slightly existential edge but also really really funny and over the top, i recommend it. It’s basically Family Guy and The Simpsons with Gen Z humor. But it’s INSANE. Very creative but insane lol. Anyways with that being said, let’s get into the two samples i tried these last few days. First one from Xerjoff was 40 Knots. And holy shit dude, i love it. It’s a great scent, fresh, green, aquatic, slightly salty and woody. It’s like the ocean if it decided to put on a suit that day. I ended up wearing it to my work as a server and one of the customers asked me what it was. Even better, my coworker friend (who’s brutally honest, and will ALWAYS let me know if she doesn’t like my fragrance) said it smells really good. It opens with salty marine notes, and with a pretty, green bridge, transitions nicely into an ambery, slightly sweet musk. Performance on it is pretty solid. Projects moderately and consistently. A perfect scent for a Mediterranean, sailing vibe, and a new vacation favorite for me! The next one i tried was Defied from Tony Iommi. I was a bit skeptical of this one because i had smelled Monkey Special a while back, and wasn’t the biggest fan of it, a bit too fruity for me, but this one blew me away. Nice smooth leather, rose, and spices. I’m a SUCKER for apple, rose and spice blends, like in PDM Carlisle, and this one was no different for me.
