Buongiorno by Acqua di Parma
With the heat wave continuing here in Denver, I decided to try out a sample of Buongiorno by Acqua di Parma— a brand known for its exceptional hot-weather scents. From the moment I spritzed it on, the opening was a breath of fresh air. A vibrant, uplifting mint greets you, and it’s important to clarify that this isn’t the harsh mint associated with toothpaste. Instead, it’s akin to the minty freshness of a freshly crafted mojito. Coupled with this mint is a prominent citrus aroma that adds an extra layer of brightness to the fragrance. I genuinely love the opening; it reminds me of Torino 21 with its minty introduction, although I find Buongiorno’s version to be even more natural. After about five minutes, subtle green notes start to emerge, maintaining the overall freshness. About half an hour in, the scent evolves—the green aspect remains, but there's a hint of musk that develops beautifully. In terms of performance, I found that Buongiorno projects nicely for the first two hours. After that, the fragrance settles much closer to the skin and lingers just over four hours on me. Overall, Buongiorno offers a more natural scent profile compared to Torino 21, albeit with slightly less longevity. Having only sampled Torino 21, I remember it delivering over six hours of wear, which is surpassing Buongiorno's four hours. If you’re on the hunt for a good deal, Jomashop has a full 100 ml tester bottle of Buongiorno for around $50, which I consider a fantastic value. If I hadn’t already ordered a bottle of Torino 21 before trying this sample, I would definitely have considered Buongiorno for my collection. In conclusion, Buongiorno is a delightful, refreshing fragrance perfect for hot weather, offering great scent appeal at an attractive price point.

Designer, Niche, Artisan, and Clones: What Really Sells, Who Gets the Best Materials, and Where Redundancy Begins
Do people really hate designer fragrances? I do not think so. Designer fragrances are still what most people know, wear, and enjoy. They are easy to find, usually very wearable, and many of them smell great. I think most of the hate comes from deeper fragrance communities where some people start believing niche automatically means better and designer automatically means basic. That is simply not true. When you look at the fragrance market as a whole, designer fragrances still sell the most by a large margin. Niche comes behind designer, clones, and inspired fragrances continue to grow because of their lower prices, and true small-batch artisan perfumery is probably the smallest category in total sales. Artisan may be the smallest, but it can also be one of the most creative because those perfumers are not always trying to appeal to the largest possible audience. Clone fragrances can appear much bigger than they actually are because of Facebook groups, YouTube, TikTok, influencers, and online fragrance communities. When you are inside a clone-focused group, it can seem like Lattafa, Armaf, DUA, Alexandria, Montagne, and other inspired houses control the fragrance market. In the real world, major designer houses still sell on a completely different level because of department stores, worldwide distribution, advertising, gift sets, airports, and general name recognition. Niche fragrances usually sell fewer bottles than designer fragrances, but they can make more money per bottle because of the higher prices. Artisan houses normally have smaller production, fewer retailers, and less advertising, so they are not competing in volume. They are often selling creativity, craftsmanship, unusual materials, and a more personal vision instead of trying to create something for everyone. Another part of this discussion is where the raw materials and fragrance formulas come from. A relatively small group of major fragrance-and-flavor companies—including Givaudan, DSM-Firmenich, IFF, and Symrise—has enormous influence over the industry. These companies create aroma chemicals, process natural ingredients, develop exclusive captive molecules, employ many of the world’s leading perfumers, and formulate fragrances for major brands. They work across the market, from everyday consumer products to prestige and fine fragrance.
Fragrance House Reviews. My Honest Take Next up Yves Saint Laurent (Designer) !!!
Yves Saint Laurent is one of the better designer fragrance houses because, for the most part, they understand what people actually want to wear. They make fragrances that are attractive, versatile, modern, and easy to reach for without smelling cheap or poorly put together. YSL is not always the most original house, especially with some of its newer releases, but originality is not the only thing that matters. A fragrance still has to smell good, wear well, and serve a purpose in a collection. YSL usually does that better than a lot of designer houses. The Y line is probably the easiest example. Y Eau de Parfum is not some groundbreaking artistic fragrance, but it is a very effective modern blue scent. It is fresh, sweet, aromatic, youthful, and strong enough to get noticed. It works casually, at work, on a date, or going out at night. It is one of those fragrances that covers a lot of situations without requiring much thought. The different Y flankers also give people options. Some are fresher, some are darker, and some are smoother or more mature. There can be some redundancy within the line, but they are not all exactly the same fragrance in different bottles. Someone who really enjoys the Y DNA can find enough differences to justify owning more than one, although most people probably do not need the entire line. La Nuit de L’Homme is still one of the most important fragrances YSL has made. The cardamom opening is immediately recognizable, and the overall scent is smooth, warm, spicy, and seductive without becoming overly sweet or heavy. It became a standard for date-night fragrances, and a lot of releases that came after it were clearly trying to capture the same feeling. The biggest complaint with La Nuit de L’Homme is performance. It smells great, but depending on the version, it can sit closer to the skin and fade faster than people expect. That does not make it a bad fragrance, but it does make the retail price harder to justify. A fragrance can smell excellent and still deserve criticism if the performance does not match the cost.
