This is a bright, modern Aromatic/ Citrus release from Dubai‑based house Khadlaj, launched around 2024 as part of their premium Special Edition line. Whilst I wasn't blown away by the OG Island, their follow up Vanilla Dunes was so much better, so I decided to give this one a try. I picked it up expecting another generic aquatic clone, but it’s surprisingly polished: it leans into that “tropical escape” vibe without feeling cheap, synthetic, or overly sweet, and sits comfortably as a solid everyday summer scent.Whilsr citrus tends to burn off rather fast on my skin, this has a bit of staying power. The opening hits immediately with bergamot and ginger. The bergamot is crisp, zesty & not overly sharp, while the ginger adds a warm, spicy kick that keeps it from feeling too one‑note or citrus‑heavy. As those settle, the grapefruit accord takes over as the clear heart: it’s juicy, fresh, and has that subtle bitter‑sweet edge of real grapefruit peel, no soapy or artificial aftertaste. It doesn’t shift into complex florals or woods. Instead it flows straight into the base, Ambroxan & Musk. The ambroxan brings that signature salty‑mineral warmth and soft “beach air” feel, while the musk wraps everything in a clean, skin‑like smoothness that stops it from turning harsh or metallic. It’s simple, but every layer supports the last. Performance is very solid for the price: 6 hours on skin, with moderate‑strong projection for the first 90m, after this it creates a nice noticeable scent bubble that you can pick up on, but never feels loud or suffocating. After that it softens into a consistent, close‑trail that sticks around longer than most designer aquatics. It’s completely office‑safe, casual‑friendly, and absolutely thrives in heat. The fresh notes really open up on warm days. It’s versatile enough for nights out or evenings too, thanks to that ambroxan warmth. If you like clean, fresh, beachy scents that don’t try too hard, this is easily one of Khadlaj’s best simple, reliable releases.
