Fahrenheit / Dior — cool wet day, again, perfect day to pull out the petrol and leather masterpiece

For those of you who enjoy layering, this was one of those combinations that elevated a fragrance I already enjoy and gave it a richer, more relaxed character. SOTD layering experiment: Bath & Body Works Whiskey hydration body cream under Bleu de Chanel EDT. Whiskey body cream is built around crisp apple, single malt whiskey, and white oak. What comes through first is that unmistakable sensation of biting into a crisp, sweet-tart apple. What makes it so enjoyable is the way that note lingers and revisits again and again as a gentle spice begins to enter, teasing the idea of fresh apple pie without ever fully turning gourmand. Bleu de Chanel opens with grapefruit, lemon, mint, and pink pepper, moves into ginger, nutmeg, jasmine, and Iso E Super, then dries down into incense, cedar, sandalwood, patchouli, labdanum, and white musk. For me, and for most people I offer it to for a whiff, the first reaction is often an audible ahh or mmm, with that fresh muskiness usually being what creates the allure. On its own, Bleu de Chanel on my skin always carries that polished, versatile freshness, a clean citrus up top with a refined woody mushy incense base. With the Whiskey cream underneath, what I noticed right away was that the slight sharpness of the citrus opening softened a bit. The top felt smoother, rounder, and less brisk, while the woods and musk in Bleu seemed to show themselves earlier. As it developed, the fragrance took on a richness that I found fantastic. The single malt whiskey and white oak underneath seemed to pull a sweet depth from Bleu’s incense, cedar, and sandalwood base, while that lingering apple nuance gave the opening a subtle warmth and character. What is often slightly crisp and dressed-up started to feel a little more relaxed, sensual, and evening-ready. It kept the unmistakable Bleu DNA, but wore with more warmth and texture. My sense is the cream is doing two things here: moisturizing the skin for better hold, while the apple/whiskey/oak profile helps bridge Bleu’s bright citrus top to its woody musky base. The result was smoother transitions, more body, and a version of Bleu de Chanel that felt less boardroom and more lounge. An EDT concentration now had more breadth and an improvement in longevity.

Big fan of the Spicebomg line. Night vision is a bold, Amber Fougere fragrance. Launched in 2020 as a more intense, refined successor to the 2019 edt version, this scent was crafted by perfumers Nathalie Lorson & Pierre Negrin. While the original Spicebomb line is famous for its fiery, explosive warmth, Night Vision EDP pivots toward a darker, electric green aesthetic. It kicks off vibrant & fresh before transitioning to a resinous warmth. In the opening, you are hit with a burst of citrus led by lemon essence and green mandarin, quickly joined by a spicy kick of black pepper & chili. This brightness soon transitions into a lush, aromatic heart where clary sage, rosemary & a unique green resinaccord take center stage, giving the scent its distinct herbal-woody character. As it settles into the base, it reveals its true depth; notes of incense, fir balsam & cedarwood blend together for a smoky, masculine foundation, while hints of almond & tonka bean add a subtle, creamy sweetness that rounds out the sharp edges of the spices. In terms of performance, this version of Night Vision is a substantial upgrade over the EDT, it lasts 6+ hrs on the skin. Its projection is potent during the first few hours, before settling into a persistent, alluring scent trail. Because of its dense, spicy, and resinous profile, it is best suited for the cooler months of autumn/winter, though it performs exceptionally well on brisk spring evenings. It is also a good night out fragrance, making it a perfect choice for date nights, clubbing, or any evening occasion My Rating: 8/10 Scent: 2.5 Longevity: 2.5 Sillage: 2 Y/N: 1
